PSP or DS

As you know, the PSP is soon to its european release, and my friends have been arguing that the PSP is rubbish compared to the DS. Well, let's compare:

PSP Features:
Better Graphics
MP3 Player
Video Player
Picture Viewer
Watch films on "UMD Video"
Bluetooth
Connects with PS3
Wireless Multiplayer

DS Features:
Touch Screen
Pictochat
Wireless Multiplayer

Now let's compare games:

PSP Games:
Ridge Racer
Wipeout Pure
World Snooker Challenge
GTA: Liberty City Stories
GT4
Need for Speed Undergorund Rivals
This is Football 2005
FIFA 2005
Burnout Legends
The Getaway
Metal Gear Acid
NBA Street
WRC

Now these are the games either released on the same day as PSP or one day after

DS Games (just a few)
Mario 64 DS
Yoshi Touch & Go
Wario-Ware Touched
Animal Crossing DS
Pac-Pix
Metroid Prime Hunters

Now you have to agree that some of the above games are bit childish, whereas the PSP is aimed at all ages.

The PSP cares about what the gamers want, not just what they play.

What's your opinion?

I go for the PSP personally. I've already got one infact, a Jap import, and it is a very sexy piece of kit. I've also got a few emulators on the PSP so I can play old nes and snes classics - although when the european model comes out I dont think emulation will be possible with the planned firmware.

dont forget to compare price, battery life, back library of compatible games, quality of build...

I think those push DS to the top..

i personally think in the next couple of years, nintendo will sadly go the same was as sega have, and become a software-only company.

a lot is riding on the ds- every single console since the super nintendo has been a flop, i think the time is running out.

i'd go for sony. i have a gamecube and playstation2 and whilst the few games i have on the gc are great, the playstation has the biggest selection and i think this is going to continue with the new consoles and handhelds

SEGA have actually done better since they went into the software market & back in profit so I don't think we will see a console from them until they are right back up ther.

The problem with the Dreamcast was:

1) No DVD support
2) Sold at too low a price at launch (£199 as opposed to £299-£350 for PS2)
3) Playstation 2, mainly the DVD thing & the backward compatibility

I want to get both but I still haven't got the DS yet & I was originally going to get it on launch date.

I agree with the above poster, this could be make or break for Nintendo, the revolution will most likely come third to the PS3 & XBOX 360

agreed - sega have released some great games in the last few months - the sonic mega collection and the soon to be released sonic gems collection is money for old rope, but it's games many of the playstation generation remeber fondly from their childhood.

i personally can't wait to play sonic cd again!

Yes Sonic CD is a game that is under rated. They should have put it on the Mega Collection. I have never played Sonic The Fighters but have played Sonic R. It wasn't a great game & came out at the time that SEGA was going down the pan.

Soul Caliber shows that SEGA can still produce top notch games.

Nintendo need to however try to experiment on diffrent genres away from Mario & co. I mean Mario Party 7, can't really be that much diffrent from Mario Party 4

1. Nintendo have gone on too long, and they should know by now that older gamers aren't that fond on games like Yoshi

2. I miss Sega's consoles, and after they announced the fact they won't make anymore, their games have gone downhill, but I will forever be a Sega fan

3. Some people argue about the PSP only holding about 6 MP3s. Well it's better than the DS, which holds.. well, none!
