the final version of netscape 8.0 has been released today, and i really like this browser. the interface looks really clean and fresh, and the way you can add a 'trusted' site to display in ie (perhaps not has helpful as it should be, since firefox seems to have its fair share of security holes)
but anyway, here are a few screenshots:
download and enjoy!

well it's certainly breaking conventions of UI with the menu bar. It seems to be basically an XUL skin for gecko and IE. It uses firefox to generate the interface and then can use IE in the middle if it needs to which is quite a useful webdev feature.
Otherwise pretty similar to firefox but with a tab cycle menu and everything opens in a new tab instead of a new window. Options panel is bloated and complex.
It trumps Firefox 1.0 I'd say but as it is using the 1.7.5 engine then firefox 1.1 will be vastly better. Would be nice if someone made a tool for that IE view thing. Oh actually I thik there is one but it's not as seamless.
In theory they should release the code back if I understand the MPL properly. Would be nice to see a version minus the AOL bloat.
Notice if you middle click to open a new tab it doesn't open in the background as per firefox plus it keeps the top two inches of the previous tab which on TVF makes it seem quicker.

you can, mark. you can select to remove all the additional crap that comes with it.
the thing i found quite annoying with it, is by default there is a google search box on the main toolbar, how ever hard i try, you can't drag it off to hide it, so, the way i got round it was to hide the entire toolbar and generate it from scratch.

it's also firefox 1.0.3 inside which means it doesn't have the most recent security fixes.

no that was because everyone was fired by AOL, this was made by some outsourced company. It's not really netscape at all, it's just a clagged on name. Brand necropilea is the term for it

Surely an ugly version of Firefox is... Firefox.
