I have been scanning the depths of ebay for many-a-bargin recently, and perhaps, have found a loophole in the system to keep your costs down.

if say, you are bidding for a small item which costs £1.99, chances are, the price will rise, but what if you stick your maximum bid of £100, anybody who wants to outbid you will have to bid over £100 (which they probably won't, unless they want it real bad), and you still get the item for £1.99 - is this right? or do i risk paying my maximum bid at all?

surely it can't be this easy?

You end up paying £100 for an item worth just £2?

Doesn't make sense to me, although I refuse to use eBay in principal.

Nah, this won't work. If you put in a bid of £100 and someone subsequently puts in a bid of say £10, then the price will be something like £10.50.

That's right. I put in a bid for £25. The nxt perons bid at £19. I got the item for £21.97.

However would risk something as high as £100!

A friend o' mine made £100 selling a link on ebay for one of those matrix schemes for phones and iPods...

I find the best way to get good deals on ebay is to be a usurper; bidding during the main part of the auction does not but increase the price and draw attention to the other bidders that you are interested in the item which will lead to them becoming more vigilant as it closes.

I never, ever, bid until the final minutes of an auction and straight away enter a high bid of the absolute most I am prepared to pay. More often than not, I get it too.

I've bid on there twice so far & won. I found the tip of bidding in the last few hours a sure way of winning

I'm selling an item at the moment. 4 watchers but no bids so far. Sale ends at the weekend.

The last time I bought I waited until the last few minutes. I almost lost for the sake of £2 in the final few seconds but I got in with my winning bid just in time.

I do like eBay. From time to time I clear down some of the bits n pieces of kit I have lying around and make a few bucks.

If only I could stop buying though.

I've only ever used eBay once, I bought two studio cameras from Bail at about £100. I aged a hundred years when I eventually realised I have no use for them whatsoever, gullible prat. It's probably not the worst thing I've ever wasted money on, but still I'll never use eBay again. It made Bail happy though, so who cares.

I saw Bail's mum advertised on eBay earlier. "Soton Slapper Sucks 4 U"

Bargain at £0.88p with 0 bids. I could have used "buy it now" for £3.00, but my funds are drying up at the moment! eek!
