Northern Rail

I get the feeling there is a lot of closet rail fans in here or at least people who are interested in the liveries the trains carry, so how about this one...

Northern Rail, the new franchise for the North of England have painted 2 trains up in a possible new colour scheme, version 1 and version 2 below.
Which do you prefer, 1, 2 or neither.

(ignore the dark blue door that's just FirstGroup base colour)

It's neither myself, they haven't decided yet although we are stuck with the colour scheme just not the way it is applied.
This particular type of train are currently painted like this in the North East and North West with colour schemes of the former operators

Neither for me, too. Whoever came up with that has no imagination. It's too "square"!

Both schemes are rather 1980s.

I think version 2 is the better of them, not too keen on either!

The ex First North Western SuperSprinters (Pictured above)which were "debranded" first actually lost the PVC stickers used to make the pink/purple and white thus left them blue with white doors, this actually looked quite nice. Would be good for Northern to adapt something like this. Shame they've chosen purple as their corporate colour!

Also, does anybody know how they manged to get a .org web address as I thought those were for non-profity people??

That's the theory - though anyone can actually register one.

Neither for me as well, although if i was forced to choose, I'd say number 2. Have I just totally contradicted myself or what!?

I still love the Midland Mainline rebrand that I posted in the Re-Brand thread. The trains are really lovely in real-life as well.

Could someone find a pic of the new "Southern" trains in their greenish new colour.

That looks like a train bound for London Victoria, just pulling in at Barnham. *look again*, Yup it is.

Any side on pics, so you can see the actual train? (Thanks for that one!)

Here's kind of one, courtesy of a bloke called Jon Bradley - presumeably a trainspotter:

Southern have been quite brave in going for the traditional old style of branding, and it seems to have paid off.

Must mention c2c... they rebranded from LTS Rail, and I rather like their simple, modern image. The trains are plain but pretty snazzy baby - I certainly recognise the difference when comparing with South Eastern Trains:

Well if we're talking snazzy trains and paint jobs then I must mention my beloved Midland Mainline!

I've found some excellent pics of the new livery and trains:
