OK, I'm trying to register to post but they introduced a new registration system, I don't have a valid email address and you cannot register to just view posts. If someone on this board is registered on this forum could they please pm me because I would like to view a few posts.

Says on the website...
Identity-Verifiable Email Addresses Only Media UK discussions members must have an identity-verifiable email address. In many cases, using your work email address in conjunction with a corresponding real name will allow you access to this site. Hotmail, AOL, ISP or webmail addresses are not verifiable. For more information, see our article on identity-verifiable addresses.
It's quite difficult to get an address other than them! I can't register either. :(

ISP email address are not acceptable. Bit of a niche market they're setting up there isn't it?

The flaw in their system is that in the real world, many business/educational email addresses do not feature your full first name or surname in a recognisable form. If you work for a multinational company that employs hundreds or thousands of people - they dont all have [email protected]

If you have domain email it will let you in, if that option is open to you.

Indeed - ours are <studentnumber>@college.ac.uk

The staff don't have the format of [email protected] either - they are usually [email protected]

I know some companies don't have the format of [email protected] - I've seen loads of variations such as [email protected] or [email protected] or [email protected].

Why do they not have something like the BBC registration where you have to reply to the email with a key? Because surely then your full "display name" would show up on your outgoing email from your work/educational establishment - and so verify who you are?

You should be fine then according to the MUK guidelines ... just register with your school address.

Quite hard to activate the account though. Don't get much access to school e-mails.

If you're really that desperate, you could just buy a domain name... e.g. tombinns.co.uk - £5.78 for 2 years from simply.com - which should be accepted by Media UK.

I used my (what was then) Freeserve address... but I got someone to vouch for me, which you can do.

I don't check Freeserve email much though so I'm thinking about moving it over to my Source FM one.
