Yup - finally happened at the ripe old age of 27!! It's all over my front, back, upper legs, arms, my face has acquired crater-like qualities, I am getting shingle-like shooting pains, the itching is driving me bleedin' beserk, my scalp is worst affected (God knows how I'm going to wash my hair) and I am not a pretty sight.
Advice please?

I find freckly, pock-marked girls very attractive, Katherine.
Wanna swap pics?

SERIOUSLY Kat - this is not a spoof answer in any way. I know sometimes you prefer we point these things out.
Do not squeeze or encourage the discharge of any spot - especially on your face.
I have one or two deep and distinct little pock marks on my high forehead from doing just that (squeezing). They were the first to arive on my skin and I treated them like any other spot, but they scarred.
Several million layers of skin later I can still see them.
Other than that, even cool baths, my best advice, are painful because your skin will touch the bath surface and it hurts.
What can I say? It will last a week or so and you will hate it. Good luck. Hope you don't get shingles (the same virus) later in life.
I'll say a wee prayer for you.
Amen.

I had chickenpox at 13, and I had it bad. I was covered in spots, and my whole body wents into shutdown.
It can be very dangerous for a man to have chickenpox post-puberty, so beware!

Calamine Lotion. Stinks and gives an odd sensation when it dries but it soothes the skin. And just to repeat what Gavin said, DON'T SCRATCH THEM! I got Chicken Pox when I was about 14 on the first day of the summer holidays.

Apologies to Kat over my flippant first reply.
I didn't realise that chickenpox was quite that serious. I remember having it when I was 6 or 7 and being very poorly, but I am casting my mind back a long way now!

There is no doubt about it - I am badly blistered in the mouth and upper throat that 'normal' feeding methods are now impossible!
I am in temporary receipt of a naso-gastric tube, and liquids only!

We have just had Chickenpox in this household.
Use Calamine Lotion on your spots to help the itching.
Get hold of some Pyriton Syrup - It will help the itching from the inside and knock you out.
Have you got any pox in any "delicate" areas?
I had three on the bottom of my ball sack and it was embarrasing scratching them.
My little boy got one right on the end of his foreskin.
