I seem to recall you reinstalled some drivers for your sound card a while back. Did this problem occur before you installed these drivers? If not, are you sure they were the correct drivers?

What exactly are you doing when the PC locks? And also how does it lock? Do programs simply cease to respond, but you cursor still moves; or does the screen completely freeze and no more activity is made by the machine (ie no IDE light flickering whatsoever etc); or does the screen image suddenly jump a few pixels one way or another? Does the PC switch off and reboot? Does anything go BANG?
The Screen completely freezes, I rebooted about 1 hour ago and closed all programs apart from rundll and systray and it is working fine.

It *might* be that your PC is overheating, have you changed the setup recently.

It also *might* be a driver realated issue, mainly graphics.

What have you changed recently, or when did it start freezing?

It started on Saturday. I have not had a lock-up so far today so I am hoping for the best. I was just sufing the net and it locked up. It did it again today before I closed all startup programs,I have checked what loads at startup and I am confident that I have prevented the thing that is causing this to load up. Cheers, Adam
