It is dignified to cut/clipper your hair short when you have a receeding hair line or thinning hair.
I am 26 and have this problem but I think having closly cropped hair is actually the right style for me anyway.
If that picture on your profile is you, I am not sure if going from such long (in comparison) hair to short is good but you should at least try it!
You don't want a comb-over do you???

I am also developing a monkey's bum...
But perhaps it was where an object was dropped from a height on my head when I was younger. Funny...I've never been the same since...

i've had a slight receeding hairline since i was about 18. i'm 24 how and it's moved a little, but because of the way i style it (kinda spiky and messy), it doesn't really notice.
but i like my hair too, i think hair can acutally make an ugly bloke attractive - i often get compliments about my hair when out on the town (such as it's 'cool' or 'nice')
if i went really bald, i dont know what i'd do to be honest, i'm sufficiently vain that i would purchase some sort of wig

Spend £30 and buy a decent pair of clippers. Won't take long to pay for themselves as you won't be going to the hairdressers anymore! It's the dignified answer.
Even if I wasn't (slowly!) losing hair I'd still have it shaved... so much less hassle. It's one thing I don't worry about, simply because there is nothing anyone can do about it. 8)

Yes though it helps if you've a nice-shaped head to start off with! I shudder to think what sort of lumpy, bumpy scull I've got under my mop!
