Having gone broadband this morning, where do I get Shrek 2 and other movies from? I've tried Kazaa but it keeps coming up with 'More sources needed'. Ta. ;)

kazza is terrible for this. i heard some positive things about shareaza (http://www.shareaza.com), but to be honest, i haven't had much luck looking for specific software apps and so on myself, but you maybe more successful

Shareazza is good. You can use it as a bit torrent client. Once you have Shareazza go to suprnova.org and look for torrent files. They are small shortcuts which will launch in Shareazza and start the downloads.

Enjoy.

You're the third person today who has mentioned bit torrent to me! What exactly is it? Do I need to download some special software and how long does the average download take? :?

Right, I've downloaded what seems to be a bit torrent client application, but on that supanova site or whatever it's called, it just keeps coming back with error messages for anything I try to download?! This is worse than dial-up was!

Bit Torrent all the way - tons more reliable IMO than any p2p network.

If it's giving errors make sure the .torrent file is actually associated with the client!

What type of errors are you coming up with? It might pay to find an FAQ for the client you're using or join a forum dedicated to torrenting.

It's alright I seem to be OK now. So how long should a 2GB file take on 1MB broadband? Is it best to leave the PC on all night? That can't be safe and the electricity must cost. :S

Oh, and another thing... When I search for files on Kazaa or whatever, on the few occasions I do find what I want, it still says it's gonna take an hour for the song to arrive just like it did on dial up! This can't be right, it should take seconds! Does the person you're downloading from have to be on broadband too?

Basically yes, you might be able to recieve data in lightning fast time but if the sender is only dishing it out at a slow rate there isn't much you can do. If you are lucky enough to find someone who is also on high speed your more likely to get a quick download time.
