i am just wondering, but do any of you here have any weapons stashed in your car or home for self-defence purposes in the event of an intruder (for instance)?

i have for sometime contemplated aquiring a crowbar to keep in my car, you know, just in case.

In case what? What could possibly require you to batter someone over the head with a weapon? Why would anyone attack you in the first place?

I suspect that part of Americas woes is that too many people carry "defensive" weapons, which are used in an "offensive" way.

In Manchester there have been a spate of incidents where gangs target drivers of 'nice' cars when stopped at lights, either open the dorr and drag the driver out and drive it away or in the case of locked doors just smash the window with a hammer and proceed!

I'd carry a weapon in my car is I had one to steal :D

I don't have a weapon as such, I just think if someone did burgle me I have plenty of things I could either stab or hit them with lying around.

Like your framed Scott picture, for instance.

no because

1 - it's not framed
2 - it's made of that polystyrene board stuff that sin't very good for whacking folk with.

Of course the stench from your unwashed self could ward off anyone friend or foe so I suppose you don't have anything to worry about.

whilst i can list no logical reason why anybody would want to attack me for my car (my car is a granny mobile citron saxo), it's just one of those things that would give me piece of mind whilst driving at night for instance (in the event of a breakdown - i live waaay out in the sticks)

i would use my descretion when deciding to crow-bar anyone, i certainly wouldn't want to cause serious injury to anybody who i didn't feel a threat to my personal safety.

i think however, a weapon or two to defend ones home is justified. although it is pretty hard to legally own a firearm nowadays, a cutlass, baseball bat with nails along the shaft or other such swoard should be placed by the bedside in every home.

some of you may remember i fully supported the actions of tony martin, and this isn't about killing somebody who tries to steal your property, thats an abhorrant notion when it can be so easily replaced, but what cannot be replaced is ones sense of safety and security in their own home, and death, i feel, is a justified sanction against those who violate this, whatever the reason.

I sleep with a selection of screwdrivers under my pillow, and I know that one of my friends has placed certain things around his house that can easily be converted into weapons after they were (pratically) tortued last year during an armed robbery.

Whenever I watch 'Fatal Attraction', I can't help but wondering whether his wife would've got away with it over here.
