Is it possible to play WMA files in winamp, does this require a plug-in?

Winamp should be able to play WMA files, as long as you specify this during installation.

From the online documentation for Winamp:
Winamp allows you to play many popular media formats:
Audio formats include: CDA, MP3, MP2, MP1, AAC, NSA, OGG, WMA, MID, MIDI, RMI, KAR, MIZ, MOD, MDZ, NST, STM, STZ, S3M, S3Z, IT, ITZ, XM, XMZ, MTM, ULT, 669, FAR, AMF, OKT, PTM, WAV, VOC, AU, SND, AIF, AIFF
Video formats include: MPG, MPEG, M2V, AVI, ASF, WMV, NSV
Playlist formats include: M3U, PLS
Looks like quite a bit of stuff but not Quicktime or Real.

There's a plugin you can get to play Real files in WinAmp (it doesn't work with streamed Real media in WinAmp 5 but does in 2)

Winamp can play bog standard unprotected WMA files but I don't think it can handle any infected by vile MS DRM.

I hate WMA - OGG however is possibly going to overtake MP3...
