Creating Photo Galleries

I'm looking - RTS-stylee - to put all my digital photos into a browsable photo gallery thing where I can put notes about each photo etc etc.
I've dabbled with a bit of
"Gallery", but I'm useless at stuff like that and can't really get it going.
Could any of you recommend any picture gallery software? And is it possible to use such software offline instead of uploading it to webspace?

If you have Front Page, you can have thumbnails of your images about the same size as the images on rts's gallery (80x80).
I dont know if that will be of any help to you, but hell, worth a try.

Well I was thinking more along the lines of those magnificent gallery systems where it does it all for you. You upload the image and can add notes and things about that image, and you have a browsable image gallery thing.

I have recently discovered
http://www.snapfiles.com its really good for all sorts of things. They have a page devoted to creating web-based galleries, you can find it here:
http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/webpu ... llery.html best of all their all free. (apart from the featured one at the top of the page!)
I use Galleroo which has a really screwy interface, but does the job. I find I have to edit the design in FrontPage before i upload though. Might be worth trying out some others. Report back if you find any good'ens!

Cheers for that link, I'll have a play about with them.
