i know several people have expressed their devastation at the retirement of geoff druett. for me he was a constant, someone that was always there - i always knew, that if i wanted to, i could watch calendar and geoff would be there. but now he is not.

its as if a void has opened up in my life. who do i turn to. what now.

*places a bunch of flowers on the floor with a card on the side saying "WHY?"*

how has geoff druett's retirement impacted your life. what is your favourite geoff druett moment? how did you find out about geoff druetts retirement? what were you doing when you first heard the news?

I am grateful to tvmercia for opening up this thread and providing an outlet for mine and others emptiness.

The first I heard of Geoff's retirement was in a thread on the TV Forum. What a cruel way to find out, it was so impersonal and such a shock, I felt an overwhelming sense of loss.

My favourite Geoff moment was during a report on beards, Geoff was anchoring Calendar and when they returned after the report, Geoff was sporting a full stick on beard. He looked just like Abraham Lincoln, how we laughed.

I also liked how his name rhymed with suet, an ingredient used to make stodgy puddings.

I'm not entirely sure who this person is but from what I've picked up I think this would be better off in TVF if its already being discussed there.

Why ? Aren't we allowed to discuss TV here. I thought that Metropol was seen to be independent of TV Forum.

oh for goodness sake. i do not remember there being a rule that television related topics are not welcome?!

Sadly, I fear that this is for real.

For all this local newsreader/weather presenter thing may appear tongue-in-cheek, it happens a little too often, particularly with those who are obsessed with their region and its televisual output.

It's not that theres a strict rule about not discussing TV, it's just I thought it would make more sense to have it on TV Forum.

The site is independant of TV Forum while it feeds largely off it for visitors, just wouldnt want to be seen to biting the hand that feeds...

Anyway please do continue but dont start talking about astons or set design.

i wonder what geoff is doing right now.
