Quote from Digital Spy
Simon Cowell's recording label BMG has axed Pop Idol runner-up Gareth Gates, The Sun reports today.
The 19-year-old - who finished second in the 2002 competition - has had a series of disappointing singles since enjoying an initial chart success with the likes of 'Unchained Melody' and 'Suspicious Mind' two years ago.
The crunch was said to come after a "disappointing" performance at the Royal Albert Hall on April 19.
“It has finally happened. Gareth’s time at BMG records has come to an end," an insider told the newspaper. “He’s a lovely chap with great resilience but he simply doesn’t sell records any more.
"There were initial meetings two months ago saying he was to be canned but the final decision didn’t come until very recently. To be honest, there were a few big players who saw Gareth at the Royal Albert Hall a few weeks ago and they weren’t very impressed.
“It’s the end of an era in pop. There’s no doubt that just a couple of years ago Gareth was the biggest pop star in Britain.”
Oh Dear looks like the bubble has burst for Gareth Gates, But at least he has 2years of fame. lol

I hope Holly Valance and Danni Minogue stay around - Danni does a very different musial style to Kylie. I don't agree she's a "wannabe".
Rachel Stevens should stay, I think she could be very sucessful.
I'm not sorry to lose Gareth Gates. Whilst Will Young has now developed his very own unique style on his album "Friday's Child" that has a maturity beyond its years, GG is still just a boring old generic pretty-boy.
Good riddance to Michelle BigMacManus too... I'd have liked Kirsty to win PI2, think she would have had the charm and charisma to make it.
Interesting to see what happens to Pop! though, along with The 411, they're playing my Student Union on the last night of term. May be interviewing them for Source FM - anything peeps would like me to ask them?
2004 has been a shite year for music so far, compared to 2003 which had some fantastic songs which I am sure will stand the test of time. I think there's only "Toxic" by Britney Spears we'll remember 5 years down the line from this year.

which ever one has the largest arms ask them to give you a really hard punch in the mouth.
On second thoughts, get them to break your fingers so you can't type.

I wish they'd push Dannii Minogue more.
I've had some very rude thoughts about that woman, normally prompted by her video being on TV.
Far better-looking than her sister.

Agreed. Wasn't she shagging Stelios, the Easyjet tosser, for a while?

Dannii is lovely.
And I like Stelios, so good for him!

I'm really not complaining at all. Nope. Not at all.
