Whilst I saw wasting most of my Tuesday randomly surfing the web I paid a visit to the wonderful RP Network... if you can call it that.

I was *shocked* to see that on the front page I was greeted with a stereotypical and wrong view of the uk "'ello" - No one says that! Then when I saw directed to the picture index I was *shocked* again to see that Ireland was missing from the small UK Map.

Mr Tom's You Cannot forget Ireland. Its not right, its looks sooo wrong without it. What have you to say.

Ah, this old chesnut. You see, whilst it's a known thing that many Americans don't believe in global warming - it's a lesser known fact that few if any of them believe in Ireland.

Well most Americans are somehwhat... er... educated about our existence, although there are some who actually think that the fairer sex comprises of green eyed, red haired colleens, who dance around the crossroads, while their equally red haired bushy husbands swill pints of Guinness and a small green dressed man jumps around waving a nobbled stick and promising pots of gold.

We don't even do pots of gold anymore. The government sold them all to finance the Millenium Spire!

Let me make it perfectly clear right now that I have the greatest respect for Ireland, its people and culture. I rather enjoy great quantities of their beer (or the US imported watered-down version of it).

And I have to say that I'm less than happy about being villified as the average ignorant American.

The reason it's not included on the map is because I didn't go there. In fact, when planning this trip, I consciously decided not to go to Ireland, because spending only one or two days there would not do the island justice. Instead, I plan to make a dedicated visit for a much more extended period of time (at some point in the future) to fully appreciate the land and its people.

And as for "'ello" ... "'ow do" wouldn't fit.

you could make it rotate with local greetings from the different areas you visited.

For Newcastle I suggest the "EEEEEEEEE" that preceeds any discussion with a local female.
