The biggest anti-climax of my life

Does anyone else here remember their last day at secondary school? I finished yesterday, with only my A levels to do after half-term, and that's it. Well yesterday was full of celebrations including going into school in the early hours and showing off our artistic talents with a few can's of paint and brushes, water balloons, water pistles, sticking notes in registers saying that Friday was to be a non-uniform day, etc etc.

Well it could just be down to the bugger all sleep, or the slightly stupid amount of alcohol consumed at last night's leavers ball, but it has now become the biggest anti-climax of my life. You'd expect the excitement to linger, but no... Very odd...

Oh absolutely, the ball was amazing. But I'm talking about the next day. The no more school feeling. I think this applies more to those after A levels, rather than GCSEs...

i know what you mean. for years, i thought, i hate school, i hate homework, i hate not being able to go around my mates because of it, and i can't wait till i leave.

then it happens, and you think, shit, what am i gonna do? sixth form, tech college, uni, work?

there is a certain reassuring security about the school society, and its clockwork predictability, that little something that protects you from the big wide world. when it first goes, it does feel a bit weird.

the world of doing things on your own is much more fun.

Technically I'm still at my high school (I'm in 6th Form) so I haven't left properly as such, but the main last day is very enjoyable. For us the Prom is the night before and everyone has a good time, we did, even though the drinks were expensive and the food was shit we enjoyed ourselves, the only thing I regret is not asking a girl for a dance. The last day everyone comes in late and very tired (I only had 4 hours sleep!) and you go to lessons and just talk to the teachers and do nothing. Then we had a leavers assembly showing a Powerpoint presentation with nothing but old photos.

There were some Y11's who left recently and they had the same thing, though we saw their PP Presentation and we thought it was hilairious.

Cheers for the advice Row, I might do that to our school on our proper last day.

Those MSN Groups are pretty handy aren't they. Just created this one for us all to share photos. At the time of posting only mine are up there, but I'm sure others will emerge soon. Note the constant harassment of the Head Boy...

A great source of entertainment in years to come...

Ours was pretty fab. On the last day the tradition is that the staff cook breakfast for the leaving 6th form - they are suprisingly good at it, even the mulleted PE teacher can do eggs! The leaving ball is even fabber, as it's after the exams everyone gets pissed (teachers included) and it's a reet good sendoff. We actually had a really good teacher-student relationship as there were about 30 in year 13 - sure we were 24th from the bottom in league tables but hey! We had fun didn't we?!

To be honest, my last day of sixth form was one of the worst I have ever known..... I didn't want to leave at all and I'd give my all to be back there having a routine each week.....
