How were you treated by the Cabin Crew on a Plane?
The worst Airline I have ever flown was American Airlines, We were travelling 5 Hours Domestic from NYC to LA the Air Hostesses was rude and plus AA's new policy to not feed passengers

The best airline I flown was Virgin Atlantic
It had good inflight entertainment system( V Port) You could send a txt message down to the ground, Watch a Selection of up to 52movies ( and it was Economy) Pause movies,Play Games the Food was very nice and the Cabin Crew was very nice and attendentive

I have heard that American Airlines are pretty awful, lol. I fly Lufthansa most of the time because I spend quite a lot of time in Germany. Almost always very kind, polite, and being German, make a bloody coffee!
Flying Virgin Atlantic in the summer, who are meant to be good. Not wanting to jinx anything so will have to wait and see...

I've flown AA to NY a couple of times and thought they were the dogs do-dah's. The reason I chose to fly with them in the first place is that they have the most legroom in "cattle" than other airlines, and pretty comfortable seats. Cheap too. Only major drawback is prety chaotic check-in at Heathrow.
Examples of seat pitch (legal minimum 26"):
Britannia 28"
Easy Jet 29"
Virgin 30"
BA 31"
AA 34"
BA WT Plus 35"
I am a man who prefers more inches than average.....!
The AA staff were OK too on the whole, older than the average I'd say you usually find on UK airlines. But maybe my experience on lucrative transatlantic flights was different to the service they provide internally.
I flew in BA World Traveller Plus once, and to be honest, the seat wasn't particularly comfortable, and for three times the cost of cattle, I wouldn't pay for it again.

The funniest cabin crew I had on a short direct flight from San Diego to Las Vegas ... the captain came on and said "Good morning, ladies and gentleman, this is Southwest flight [whatever] to Las Vegas, stopping in Victorville, Fallbrook, Modesto, Fresno, Carson City, Denver, Los Angeles and Blythe. Our flight time will be two weeks, four days, seven hours and 12 minutes."
On that same flight, they had problems parking the Jetway (airbridge?) to let people off, and everyone was standing up, waiting to file off the plane. The jetway was repeatedly bumping into the side of the aircraft, and the pilot turned on the "fasten seat belts" sign. Hilarious.
My recent BA flight was comfortable, though I think the extra money to sit in Club World or above would be well spent. Actually -- on my outward flight, I requested to sit in the very last row on the aisle, so I could put my seatback as far back as I liked, without people yelling at me that I was knocking over their orange juice or what-have-you. My return flight wasn't so lucky ... I got stuck in a middle seat between a stinky Dane and a Frenchman with bad teeth.

I was on a very long (Well it felt like forever really) BA Flight from Manchester to New York a few years ago, the crew didn't appear for ages and I was gasping for a drink, so I was encouraged to go and get one. I only asked for a can of Coke and they gave me two mini ones, while doing this they looked pissed off as they were on a break. When everyone saw what I was doing they followed and eventually went round with the drinks trolley.

I generally like BA, only problems i've had with them are that sometimes the nob heads come round and wake you up when you are quite obviously asleep. I once wrote "GO AWAY" on my sleeping mask with one of those bloody biros they give you and they still tap you on the shoulder to ask if you want fucking lunch. NO!
Virgin Atlantic is very nice - the V Port is absolutely superb. But the food... eugh... I seem to remember it was like playdough or something; and not even with the salty taste that the coloured kids' stuff gives you.
Singapore and Quantas are very good; flown once on both.
I have always imagined that Japan Airlines or Nippon Airlines would have the best service. Just can't imagine a rude Japanese person.

On my recent trip to NY we flew with United Airlines.
They were really good, on the way out we had Exit Row seats, so all the leg-room you could need in the world. The hostess took a shining to us when she was sitting opposite us for take off. When she was doing the drinks she gave us loads of extra bottles of wine for the trip! Get in!
The fact that the wine wasn't the best in the world is beside the point, it was freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
The food wasn't too bad either, but the main corse on the way out had cheese, yuk!

Crivvens. What a grumpy gus. You might find that people become even more irate when they haven't been woken for the food (which they have paid for).
As for your puzzling maskerpades, perhaps 'nil by mouth' or 'no lunch, thanks' would have been clearer?
'Go away' as a legend is perhaps a little ambiguous. Perhaps the perplexed cabin staff thought you were chasing away sleep demons and hobgoblins, or that you were announcing your holiday to all and sundry.
