Since last Saturday everytime I open up Internet Explorer the winow opens blank & the following appears in the address bar:

C:\searchpage.html

Also if I type in a web address with out putting http:// in front the same happens but the following appears in the address bar:

file:///C:/searchpage.html?page=www.metropol247.co.uk

Does anyone know why this is.

Any help is appriciated

Sounds like your browser has been hijacked.

Download CWShredder and Spybot Search and Destroy. Scan your system with them and remove anything which looks dodgy.

Sounds like your browser has been hijacked.

Download CWShredder and Spybot Search and Destroy. Scan your system with them and remove anything which looks dodgy.

What do you mean by Hijacked. I'm with Supanet, they haven't gone bust have they?

Sounds like your browser has been hijacked.

What do you mean by Hijacked.

Hijacked means to alter something in your browser that isn't one of the default things. A common example is the Search pane which can be legimately altered to something else, say, Copernic, but things that scan for Spyware and what not assume that that is a hijack attempt because its not the default.

Anyway, download, install, update (regularly) and run Ad-aware 6 from Lavasoft. Download from download.com, click here to get it.

I tried to download adware 6 (message above) but my modem is to S-L-O-W.

Anyway apart from the fact of been annoying (keep having to type in http:\\ everytime). does it do any harm to my computer!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
