For those not yet in work, or between jobs; what is it you want to do for a living?

For those in work - is it what you envisaged for yourself? Is it purely a means to an end, is it your calling, or somewhere in between?

I grew up beleiving I would be an actor for a living. Whilst the clock hasn't exactly run out for me yet I'm aware that being 32 and running a sales office 40 hours a week isn't exactly putting me on that road. I do co write, produce and perform a comedy act which began 15 years ago, so I know I'm still in with a shout.

Life kind of gets in the way sometimes. Will you let it get in yours?

I was wierd.

I grew up wanting to be a train driver for some strange reason.

I had that whole Actor thing for a bit, but I got tired of it and came to reality about it of how shit it would be.(I took Drama for a GCSE and realised how shit it was by the end, but I got a C) Though I'm still a student so I'm not too bad, though I only started working in the middle of March, I found it quite embarassing as everyone else I knew had a job, I didn't and I always asked for loads of money from my folks, like you do, but they were starting to get annoyed about it, but I am glad I found one as I feel far richer and really more confident about it now.

At the moment, I do sod all, but I've had my fair share of jobs...

Garage Mechanic (failed miserably and quit after 2 weeks)

Call Centre Op (For ITV Digital)

Bar staff (at a crappy holiday resort)

Rides assistant (at a theme park)

Radio Presenter (x3)

Radio Newsreader (x2)

This summer, I'll get a job in Cardiff as a call centre op again. I liked doing that, I used to enjoy using a different accent for each caller. Scottish, Irish, Welsh, Indian

I am currently an "Administration Assistant" which is a posh title for receptionist at Fosseway Radio. It's a good laugh actually, I only do 3 hours a day and am only paid the minimum £3.80 an hour...but I couldn't be given any more pay or hours unless the other receptionist has days off in which I cover.

I'll be honest, it suits me. To be a receptionist though takes a lot of work. Not only do you have to maintain the website, type up all the local events for the what's on guide, make cards for charity events, frank mail, send out mailers, deal with callers (sometimes I have the joy of answering the phones of Rutland Radio too!) and guests and competition winners.

BUt above all that - I have to maintain that slightly bitter look that you can see in any receptionists face that makes you think they've had a troubled life. I'm good at that.

The receptionist job looks very stressful; I worked they’re twice during my work experience at DHL. It doesn’t look that bad, but towards the end of the day people decide to bring you everything to be done within an hour of closing time.

A call centre guy doesn’t look that bad, but I would never aim at that for a permanent job. it gets too boring! Maybe part time though when I go off to do A-Levels etc.

You may have all read, I want to be a professional photographer. But I’m still thinking about going to Art College and doing it, or going to a different college that does photography and many other things to keep my options open.

Ah well. At the moment, I have the glorified job title of "Kitchen Porter". I’m just the pot washer... sorry to get your hopes up...

I’m a manger within the Civil Service and it is by no means what I had envisaged I would do with my life. I’m afraid through good pay and excellent working conditions, I have locked myself into a spiral of complacency in my career. Making a break to do the things I want to do (what ever that may be) is becoming tougher and tougher.

It's always been my life's ambition to be a local authority committee clerk, so I'm fine and dandy, thanks very much.

I want to be a web designer, I'm hoping to get a placement this summer with a local company.

I'm at uni, originally with the desire to be an electronic engineer, now with the desire to be a primary school teacher.

To make up some more money in the mean time, I'm a delivery driver for Domino's.

I'm only a young 'un and I've gone through phases of wanting to be a Primary School Teacher, Drama Teacher and Actor but now I want to be a news reader- not setting my standards too high!
