Somerfield converted all the good Kwik Saves in Scotland into Somerfields and shut down the rest. Kwik Save no longer exists in scotland. Then the english stores were flogged to another company who ditched the entire own-brand range as one of their first cost-cutting moves.
Ah that'll explain why there isn't a single Kwik Save in London as well & why the Ilford branch suddenly turned into a Somerfield.

Back on that Morrision character, surely M&M's/Mars will be looking into this logo, I thought it was a pisstake at first, unless I've missed something

Here's the letter that's been handed out to staff and it's a little more than the Press Release the other day...

(Sorry if it's too big BTW, probably makes it easier to read hopefully)

That tescos always makes me smile when I go in, it's like going into a time warp and then it's really crammed inside because they've tried to cram as much stuff in as possible! Tesco Extra on Western Avenue is far nicer (and up to date branding wise).

I often shop at my local Morrisons in the early hours of the morning. The benefits of this are obvious - there's no queue at the till, for one. However, I must tell you that various incidents with a rather creepy supervisor make me want to take a bunch of items to the till that should, in unison, cast a horrible amalgamation of suspicion on myself...just not enough to get arrested.

A few items will appear innocent and mundane in comparison, obviously there to offset the weirdness of the whole thing (like a pencil case and a pair of mittens) and I'll casually throw in some cooking supplies (maybe a cucumber, a pot noodle and a packet of mixed nuts).

I know this is an inane and pointless idea, but somehow I'm still chuckling away like it's my 5th birthday just imagining the prospect. Here's what I've come up with so far...

bin bags
paint thinner
a disposable camera
metal coat hangers
several boxes of laxatives
kebab skewers
vaseline - the biggest tub eva
a car battery
an alarm clock
a large, plastic cooler box
quick dry cement
pampers
an Olsen Twins video
a spade
jump cables
duct tape
a teen magazine ("er, that's not for me")
ski mask
The Bible
cards, which read 'You're the love of my life'
bumper pack of chocolate syrup
Beef Jerky
Beer
Beef Jerky
Beer
Beef Jerky
Beer
Beef Jerky
Beer

Tomorrow night has been earmarked for the operation, though I thought I'd do a dummy run tonight and buy a few auspicious items: like an American Psycho DVD and a pineapple (I never buy pineapples).

See what reaction that gets...

On the contrary; I was at Morrisions just the other night...

...tho', I didn't have enough for the Pampers, so had to put those back.

Oh dear, is Jovis-World somewhere int he Outer Hebrides, or maybe deepest Cornwall
I might be wrong, but the only Sainsbury's (sainsburies?) in Cornwall is in Truro - and it is complete with the modern branding.

Is the one in Plymouth still proudly beaming J SAINSBURY? (I think that's the one I am thinking about, I seem to recall it being a massive white monstrosity. I haven't been to Plymouth since 2004 so I can't really remember.)

And, regardez les morrisons' banana storage, I see that the revolutionary banana storage design of years past has finally hit the morrisons in Bodmin. Very exciting things afoot there.

The Sainsbury's in Plymouth (at Marsh Mills) has been refurbished for the second time in as many years (now even bigger so you spend twice as long trying to find anything). they've had the modern signage since the first re-incarnation. The City Centre store also got a makeover in 2006, so I can't find anything in their either.

I've started doing alot of my shopping on-line now. It seems alot easier and sometimes I "accidentally" charge it to my Sister's card - she rarely notices!

We haven't talked Morrisons for a while, and as it's a topic of close personal interest to all our hearts, I've dredged up the thread again.

It's July. Does anyone have the fresh new branding rolled out in their store yet, in any form ?

I've seen a couple of new style signage things in the Blackpool store, using a slightly different font and an oval for the prices in the shape of the new logo. They still have the old logo on them, though.

Most of the newer own-brand lines also have a consistent new style ingredients and instructions section on the back using a bizarre serif font.
