As I've said on some Facebook posts on the subject. The sensible solution has to be to go for Independence when offered. Self Determination has been fought over many times. To me it's a question of being 'Frit' if the Scottish people reject the offer.

Simply take it and exploit it. The Czech Republic and Slovakia still remain friends after their mutually agreed split, and even the most hardened Nationalists are becoming more co-operative in the Former Yugoslavia.

One thought on the Currency issue. If the Scots even threatened to use the Euro the Rump UK administration would plead for Scotland to use Sterling. A Euro powered Scotland would be the most enormous backdoor for RUK wide common acceptance of the common currency, which some conveniently choose to forget Is much more powerful than Sterling has been since the Euro's birth.

That last sentence still makes no sense - what is more powerful than Sterling has been since the Euro's birth? The Euro? In what terms?

Even the most hardened Euro-supporters (myself included) have had their confidence in the currency rocked in recent years.

Sterling has dropped by 25 Eurocents against the currency since the Euro was created, even with the troubles of the Common Currency. A devaluation of almost 18pct.

The EU will accept the result of any referendum, and accept Scotland in. There's no way that the Commission regardless of Spanish internal difficulties, would want to lose such an enormous continental shelf from the Union, the effects would be significant on Fisheries and also on mineral resources.

If Scotland voted for independence, obviously there would be a long process of divorce. Fair enough, but we have been promised a referendum on Britain's membership of the EU. Should Scotland not have completely left us by the time of that referendum, would/should they be allowed to vote?
