Currys doesnt exactly have a great customer service record does it? Also its worth noting that they are currently trialling stores without the Currys brand, called Black, with a very similar colour scheme to Knowhow.
I've been in Black in Brum quite a few times and it should be pointed out the signage has changed since it first opened Currys and PC World is now above and in a much larger font than the word Black is. Whether Blacks got bothered by it, or the Black brand on it's own just wasn't working as well, I've no idea.
But yes you've reminded of Dixons track record for rebranding, so I'm not going to rule it out but I think it would be a bad move.

Peacocks decided to end Urban Spirit etc as their research found people had a total lack of awareness of the sub brands.
Wouldn't that be a good thing? Peacocks is hardly up there with Superdry in the 'coolness' stakes. I'd imagine more people would be put off by the Peacocks brand than would something branded simply Urban Spirit.

Yes, I just heard that. Total sales down by 14%, like for like down by 8%. Not looking good. Was surprised to hear that sales were up in stores that offered a larger selection of consumer electronics.

Instant gratification takes too long.

They're trying to place themselves in the middle market along with Topshop and New Look aparently, and make Peacocks a good quality fashion brand in its own right.

The problem I've found with Peacocks in the past, at least in the male section, is that they sell Primark-style clothes (aka variable quality, good range of products similar to main high street shops) but sell their clothes at Topman/River Island prices. I think they'd be better placing themselves in Primark's target market rather than trying to place themselves further upmarket which I just can't see working.

Don't jump the gun you would pay more then £8 for a printed t-shirt in topman and you would not get a pair of jeans for £15-20 in topman or RI.

La Senza and Blacks seem to have pulled through for the time being, probably assuring they'll survive in some form or other for the next few years at least. I wouldn't count on the same for Hawkins Bazaar.
