I didn't know you could do that with exams; but it confirms my belief that the expression of ideas and understanding isn't, and shouldn't be, limited to the written form. I've worked with many creative people who have to work twice as hard to cope with reading and writing. It doesn't come easy to some people, and I'm not about to start excluding anyone on those grounds.
In terms of the prevalence and creative content of his posts I find that how much he has to say and how intelligent or thought provoking it is to be well within the bell-curve of most of the membership. He does tend to reply to many threads in a block, as do others. That is often dictated by how often they are online. Others, like me, are nearly always connected so tend to participate as and when warranted.
Barcode, if you can get a spell checker sorted on your machine it would certainly assist in making sure your posts are as clear as you are able to make them. I can't ask you any more than that.
It's a matter for individual members whether they want to read or skim over your posts. There are some TV Forumers I've never paid much attention to and some I ignore completely. It's certainly possible to do that.

if it wasn't for the fact that barcode was so vocal, i think i would be able to tune him out like the rest of the background noise on tvf - such as BBCMIDSTODAY. but the fact he is so prolific and so unwilling to accept that his failure or inability to spell check really winds many people up means he is very hard to ignore.
it also doesn't help matters when people such as stuart defend him to the nth degree, as barcode's small little mind latches onto the defence and he fails to take on board other people's annoyance. whilst we are willing to accept his posts if they show he has made some effort to make them legible, he is in too much of a hurry to post his meaningless drivel to do so.

I'm not sure I buy that. I'm dyslexic (although clearly not as much as Barcode), but I've worked extremely hard to try and cover this up. Over the years I've put lots of effort into learning the correct spellings of homophones, and use a spell checker for practically everything else. By contrast, it doesn't feel like barcode puts any effort into ensuring his posts are legible beyond a cursory press of the Spell Check button - which doesn't pick up contextual errors (such as there/their/they're).

Exactly. I'm dyslexic too, and obviously not to the same extent to barcode. But one thing is to take notice of what other people tell you. If people keep pointing out the same spelling/grammar error over and over again, I make a point of concentrating on it when I use that word/phrase again. Okay, it takes a bit extra time, but you've got to make some form of effort, it's the only way you'll improve. I'm assuming you (barcode) want to improve? If so then take note of the things people tell you and don't take them as a personal attack.

Those last two by cdd and ashley b prove once again that this, 'oh, no, please sir, I'm dyslexic, you can't possibly expect me to be legible' argument is utter crap. Sure, there problem may not be as bad, but even so, I understand every word of those posts? So why do you constantly post utter rubbish like you do?
And it's not just spelling and grammar. The frequency at which you post, considering that you disturb the natural flow of conversation nearly every time, is just damn annoying.
I'm sorry if that's harsh, but that's exactly how I and many others feel.

The question is, have you taken any of it on board?
