We had snow yesterday. I skived off work for the day as Mr. Hellfire and My friend and her hubby were off work and i didn't want to miss out on the fun also the kids were at school, so we all went out to play. It was great no kids and only a few big kids playing on the green. We had a snowball fight ( i lost), built snowmen and had fun sledging on the hill. The kids were pissed off, as the school was open and they could see us from the classroom having fun. It's all gone today though I want more!

Yes I must say I was shocked that we had snow yesterday, but like a miserable Scrooge, I didn't go to play in it. Oh well.

It's the same every year - winter comes and snow falls at some point and in some places quite heavily, yet the media act as if it's all very unusual.

Well, perhaps it is in Nottingham. Usually when reports of "the whole of the country is in chaos because of snow" abound, it's sunny blue skies and dry as a bone here. We haven't seen a decent snowfall for several years (last year was the heaviest for a while, all of about two inches).

We managed a sprinkle yesterday morning, but that had all melted by lunchtime. Today has just been soggy for the most part, although it has been snowing for the past three hours or so and it is actually settling. Though I'll be surprised if it's still there much beyond tomorrow morning.

As for schools closing, I think the only time we ever got sent home early was one afternoon when there was a strike by the NUT. We used to reckon that they'd make us come to school even if it burnt down. Sadly, nobody tested that theory.

I hate snow.
Having had to walk the best part of eight miles home because there were no buses was not my idea of fun. 16:40 I left work, 21:30 when I finally got home.

yes its all a bit OTT on the whole, however the second wave of snow which hit the midlands just before the friday evening rush hour was rather inconvenient. i gave up after 2 hours when i'd only moved a few yards, and went back to work to sit it out till 9pm when the roads started to clear, as did other people, and some people even checked into hotels. however a colleague who didn't give up like me, said it took her 5 hours to do a journey that usually takes 20 min!! it wasn't quite on the scale of the 2004 snow/ice saga which caused many people to camp out in pebble mill offices though.
