I think he genuinely gets apoplectic at a post (that he's frequently misread) on a regular basis. He just needs a Bond Theme Marathon to relax.

There's rota-chat (dull) and then there's "what if something happens this afternoon and the normal presenter has already been on once today"-rota-chat (WTF-ery).
I don't think TVNewsViewer can identify the difference.
