Well, at least Jem found a way here and stated just what the sticker meant which is nice. If anyone else wants a sticker, I can run you some shitty ones off and yeah, you can have one too Mozo.

The stickers were (someone elses) geeky tech joke.
Now there's a surprise. He was watching our little chat all the time. Who'd have thought?

Thanks for that Jeremy. Sounds really convincing. A bit like the “I was just holding it for someone else officer” or the “I didn’t pack my own bag” defence. Presumably this same person nailed the sticker irremovably to your laptop and then followed you round with a camera for months afterwards. You obviously thought it would be rude to object on at least 3 separate occasions and that it would be the height of bad manners to have all those images removed from the various web locations. You also seem to be the only one that has lovingly maintained it as part of your personal equipment. Anyway, why be so coy? You could have just come out and told us that ages ago, we’d have understood. it’s also a shame you couldn't make it to the BBC message board with that valuable insight. Remember the place? The one that pays your wages? Remember too the job description?

"The role of a message board or community host is key to the overall success and quality of a particular site. Hosts are responsible for encouraging conversation and debate, supporting users and being the first line of enquiry for community-related issues."

I think the last bit may have passed you by.

So will we be welcoming you back at the old homestead any time soon? We’ve had the kettle on for nearly a month now and the kitchen’s getting a bit steamed up. We've also forgotten, do you take sugar?

To the rest of this wonderful board. Thanks a million for providing such a valuable conduit of discussion and for even smoking out our elusive host. I couldn’t be more grateful. We were getting worried and even had a milk carton missing person campaign planned.

Just a quick word on the whole 'Witchhunt/Personal vendetta' issue. I'd have a look back at the start of this thread before you begin chucking any stones towards my particular glass dwelling. I believe it was set up to pass judgement on certain contributors to the BBC message boards whom you described assortedly as 'idiots' the ‘tin-foil hat brigade’, ‘Loud mouthed-closed-minded-pillocks’ and ‘100% morons’. I don’t need to continue do I? Obviously reminding you of your initial description of me as a ‘fat paranoid wanker’ would be over egging it wouldn’t it? Oops sorry, I did it anyway.

Not exactly charitable though was it? If your'e going to be accusing others of personal comments and cyber stalking I think you'd all better clean your own houses first. Glass or otherwise.

Anyway, my sincere thanks to Gavin for his reasoned responses and for allowing me to continue on this thread. I'll leave you all now to mutter judgementally about me and wait patiently for our hallowed host to hopefully remember his place in the grand scheme of things. He seems fond of reminding me of mine so its only fair really.

Bye now.

Missing you already!

Congratulations. You've just proven my earlier assertion that "you probably woudn't accept an explanation" correct.

Glad to oblige.

For my next trick I'll prove the moon is made of cream cheese and there really was a man on the grassy knoll. Would any of you like to buy a used car by the way?

Which one of you called Jem then? Was his number on speed dial?

I thought you said goodbye?

I must say whether you employed me or not I'd cross the road and risk being hit by a car to avoid you and your obsessive questioning - perhaps Jem is employing the same net tactic.

Anyway, you got (one of the) answers that you wanted. Is it inconceivable to think that someone else made the sticker and Jem asked for one?

Of course not. Because the BBC is NuLie-bour's propaganda arm yadda yadda yadda license payers yadda yadda BLEURGH.

Of course its conceivable. Its also conceivable that he was the only one that used one and the only one that still has it on his laptop. Its also conceivable that he was the only one to be photographed with it, numerous times. I suppose its also conceivable that he's be the only one to allow the images of him to be put on the web and stay there for several months. Its probably conceivable that when questioned about it he'd run for cover and only pop up to respond to you guys using almost exactly same terminology that you set him up with in your mock poll. I'm sure its also conceivable that whomever it was that made the sticker chose that terminology because it had nothing whatsoever to do with how he or she thought the BBC New Media and Technology department were approaching their work within the BBC.

All perfectly plausible.

In fact, just to be sure I suppose we'd have to ask whoever it was that made them. I wonder if Jem would like to name them.

In the meantime, how about that used car. Its got low mileage and only one lady owner. Interested?

So we are BBC plants after all, knew it.

Could you not say all of the above about any photo in the world, ever, though?

Are we to vet all photos of BBC personnel, is that it?

Are we to install security cameras with a feed to every license fee payer in every office of the BBC to monitor what they do?

How very un-Daily Mail of you, Mozo!

We're not talking about one photo though are we? There are at least 3 of them and Jem seems to be quite happy for all of them to be taken, posted up and then to stay there for months.

I never said you were ALL BBC plants. But lets be honest, at least one of you has to be either working for, or with the BBC. That doesn't make you PLANTS but it does mean you have a vested interest to defend them. If so, not admitting that blows rather a large hole in your arguments doesn't it?

I suppose Jem just happened to find this thread completely unaided then did he?

How does it?

I don't always defend my friends when they're in the wrong - however on this occasion they're not in the wrong.

And he's quite happy for them to be up because AS HE HAS EXPLAINED TO YOU they are an in-joke that any other geeks in similar professions, or anyone working for the BBC in a similar capacity, might find funny.

Just out of interest - have you been watching Diagnosis Murder, Mozo?

Or something involving ludicrous plots that mean nothing?
