Think the exclusive contract runs out with o2 in 2009, so probably the other networks will get them then.Mr Q wrote:Gavin, my understanding is that Apple is abandoning its exclusive distribution model. I'm fairly certain all new launch markets for the iPhone will include multiple operators rather than just the one. It would not surprise me in the least if Apple were to reverse its position in existing markets as well. Given the massive interest in the iPhone now, not to mention the widespread hacking issues that have made the current locks near worthless, I don't think there's much value for Apple in tying the new product to any one operator.Gavin Scott wrote:Anyone else heard this?

Pedantry to start - the new iPhone is the iPhone 3G - iPhone 2.0 is the upgrade to the original iPhone. http://www.apple.com/uk/iphone/software ... hone2.html
OK - Anyone intrigued by Apple's latest advert? That the iPhone is the ideal unit for work-related communication and organisation? Feeling threatened by the BlackBerry are we?
Oh - and the ultimate irony is that these features require a Microsoft product (Exchange) to run! Oh the shame!
Why are three of the major mobile companies named after fruit? Apple, Orange and Blackberry? Are T-Mobile to bring out the Banana next year?

Pedantry != baseless bashing, observe.
Yeah... is there a point you mean to make?Alexia wrote:Pedantry to start - the new iPhone is the iPhone 3G - iPhone 2.0 is the upgrade to the original iPhone. http://www.apple.com/uk/iphone/software ... hone2.html
Big money to be made from business customers tethered to their smartphones for emails and the like. Doubt Blackberry was posing a threat seeing as the iPhone came in on their territory.Alexia wrote:OK - Anyone intrigued by Apple's latest advert? Shame how? It has compatibility with MS Exchange servers because a huge amount of companies use it and many are not wiling to shift off to other solutions because the whole thing is engrained and keeps a good proportion of their IT staff in work. More necessity to cater to as wide an audience as possible than any bit ironic, next you'll say Office for the Mac is ironic...Alexia wrote:Oh - and the ultimate irony is that these features require a Microsoft product (Exchange) to run! Gee, haven't heard that one in a week.Alexia wrote:Why are three of the major mobile companies named after fruit? Apple, Orange and Blackberry? Are T-Mobile to bring out the Banana next year?

Wonder what they mean by unlimited Wi-Fi for 12 months, seeing as surely that has nothing to do with one's data plan?

It gives you access to the Cloud wi-fi zones that they put in certain locations (Wetherspoons, for example, who are too profit hungry to pay for an open broadband connection for their customers).lukey wrote:Wonder what they mean by unlimited Wi-Fi for 12 months, seeing as surely that has nothing to do with one's data plan?
