May I have the talking stick, fellow tribes-people? I have also been on the piss, so excuse me if I make no sense at all.

In my slightly twisted and crazy opinion, TV Forum is barely surviving and it can do so much better, but new blood is needed - not only on the moderation side of things, but in ordinary members as well.

I've spoken to quite a few people who have either been members of TVF, are currently members, and one or two that have thought about becoming members. I think a lot of new members act the way they do because they feel they have a lot to live up to, with there being such a strong group of people that have been there from the start.

I think a lot of prospective members are scared off by some incidents where profanities and disrespect are thrown at members that don't or can't use or understand the highest standard of English. I also think they're put off simply by the fact that there isn't a constant stream of new members joining and leaving, it's always the same people. And because the same people are always roaming around, the forum itself to me has become quite stale. It's almost like watching the same guests on Parkinson every week.

New members get a lot of stick, and unfortunately, people that have the potential to become valued members - including people that work in television - get pissed off by not only trolls, but long-time members that come across as bitter.

I think the mechanical wheels of TV Forum have become so bunged up with crap, one hell of a kick up the arse is needed and long-time members need to think about not leaving, but taking a break and letting new blood in to have a go.

Unfortunately the problem with certain new members is that they seem to think it's OK to use pidgin English on the forum. I just don't understand why is it so hard to write using proper English, and not using text speak or dropping all of the capital letters, apostrophes etc.

Granted some posters aren't English - fair enough; a bit of scrutinising of my server logs reveals that TVF gets many hits from around the world, including countries where English is not their first language but ones that do seam too think its ok 2 rite like ths, which hacks me off, somewhat.

I do not profess to be perfect at English, but at least I make the effort to make my posts readable and correct to the best of my knowledge.

Over and out.

I wouldn't say that's necessarily the case - the major issue tends to be new members that post complete tosh, or post just for the hell of it, with nothing valuable to add.

I've been a member of TVF for somewhere in the region of two and a half years, but my post count is put to shame by some that have been members for only a couple of months. There seems to be a strong case of quantity bypassing quality (although, to be fair, you'll always get that from some), and understandably, it gets people's goats up.

As regards 0891505050 (or whatever the dyslexic numbers ID is), they either need a spell-checker, and quick, or an extended vacation on a canal barge in the Norfolk Broads...

I've left TVF for a while! its that good?? Im guessing it is.

Charlie is an idiot. Yes we all know that. He doesnt understand his job, and goes on a banning spree and locking spree for the sake of using his powers. Asa needs to re-consider who he takes on board. All mod Isonstine and itsrobert are great, but Charlie is not.

Oh and a few pointers for the mods over there... If your going to give someone a warning. Warn them by PM don't just say blah blah blah you had a warning less than a month ago. This happened to me. Apprently I was warned under a month ago, yet I didn't recall ever receiving one. As Charlie being Charlie and Asa just being a lazy bastard he took Charlie's word ans said to me "I understand from what Charlie has said you received a warning not to long ago" Where is the proof in this warning? No one will show me.

Another thing also that I think is needed over there is a new Mod, give Charlie the bloody boot and bring in BBC WORLD. He has more potential of becoming a successful mod!

Bye Bye :D

Famousmales forum (not that I ever visit) has a little thingy on the bottom of their left hand column (with user guff) which has a warning level (1 - 2 - 3 - banned)

something along these lines would be nice for the trolls - even if it only applied during the first few months.

Maybe Asa should consider putting a spelling checker into the software because, as you know, some of the spelling on TVF is just unreadable.

That sounds a good idea.

Has Charlie met his banning quota for September then?

MrTomServo was a great moderator, Charlie should look back at how MrTomServo moderated and take things on board. Most of the new members on TV Forum at present leave much to be desired, but it seems to me like there is a constant cycle of about 2 or 3 members who repeatedly sign up and troll on the forum, it reminds me of the days of www_dot_tomd and the like. The forum back then was a completely different place, there were some half-decent mock designs, there was friendly chat and The Lounge was still a part of TV Forum. Asa and his team really need to think about the way they are moderating and update the Terms and Conditions. Meanwhile, here on Metropol there seem to be some new members who could do with being deleted,"incest-videos" and "showclubinfo.info" for example. Anyway, I'll let someone else speak now.
