Certainly prefer an ordinary desk, myself, Andrew.
Try and find a workstation that accepts a huge, cuboid laser printer!
Screen, keyboard, mouse and other "desky" clutter like notepads, pens, pencils, glasses case and telephones on the desk itself; processor, printer and scanner, plus loads of audio devices on a table adjacent.

The slot for my printer is okay, it's at the bottom level of my 'Workstation', but it also shares room with my Seinfeld DVD, Minder Series 10 DVD and Futurama S3 VHS, as there's no other room for them.Andrew wrote:So what to people prefer then, a desk or what would be refered to as a "Computer Workstation". Can't be doing with the latter myself, all the slots never seem to fit anything properly leading to wasted space and your printer stuck up in the air or on the floor
Though as there's no room my USB TV Card is stuck under my bed (still connected) so it doesn't get in the way.
That screensaver is absolutely fab.Fireboy wrote:

I've always been wanting to get hold of a copy of it - without the expense of having to buy a Mac (sorry, Mr Tom Servo and other fellow Mac users).
I'm not one of those who types tries to make my PC look like a Mac by getting a faux skin and hacking all the system files to change the elements (why do people bother? ), but I didn't know what to look for until the other day.
I didn't know there was a Windows version until the other day when I read about it somewhere - the screensaver is called "Flurry". You need a reasonavble graphics card to run it - the onboard jobbies can't handle it.
OK £339 isn't exactly something I can afford at the moment, especially to have a nice screensaver.DJGM wrote:Expense? What expense?Chris wrote: . . . without the expense of having to buy a Mac . . .

The Mac Mini is a basic computer - to make it at least "usable" and to the standard of my recently purchased PC ...
+£50 for another 256Mb memory module to make it up to 512Mb
+£70 for a DVDRW/CDRW
+£38 for a wired keyboard and mouse set
+£30 for an extra 40Gb of storage space
Grand total - £448.53. And slap on an extra £78.49 @ 17.5% VAT, and there, you have your usable, but somewhat expensive Mac Mini, standing at £527.02.
Plus you can't buy an "affordable" Apple screen, well, if you're going to do the Apple thing, then you might as well go the whole hog - they only have ones which costs ridiculous amounts of cash.

not affordable at all, and not to mention the extra cost of software

Some also have quite a high value now because soem songs on those CD's have gone "out of print" or been "deleted" & that may be the only way to get them now.DAS wrote:Because buying one CD for £14.99 is surely a lot easier than buying 40 singles for £2.99 each?cdd wrote:I never get the whole thing with Now CDs. I mean they're just compilation CDs, all the tracks are available seperately.russnet wrote:Cheers for all them. I have opted for the one on the top right of your collection. As for Now's, the earliest one I have is 18 and then from 21-onwards. They are getting a bit too expensive on Ebay to buy as they go for anything from £10-20 each and that's not including the very earlier ones that can go from £60+ with Now 4 (the first one on CD) going for a minimum of £300 but that sort of stuff is for a different thread altogether lol.
I have:
Now UK: Vinyl : Now 4 & Now 8
CD: Now 29-Now 60
Now US: CD: Now 1-Now 16
Sorry to take off topic again.
Some cool images in those above posts, makes my Bender one look shit

Well, the third icon down looks like it's a Windows Media Player file so I'm betting it's Porn.Cheese Head wrote:What do you have to hide, exactly?cdd wrote:Don't usually partake in these kinds of things, but...
