So to tell people off for it is ridiculous.

It must make people think twice before posting.

I think the admin just genuinely dislikes the people who post on that forum. Which begs the question: why bother running a forum in the first place?

Which in turn begs the question of why post anything at all?

I think the forum only exists so no one else can have a crack at running one. Well, one or two have tried but the community's far too small to sustain more than one. And Pres Cafe is pretty dead as it is. Between the extreme over-moderation and certain posters being extremely antagonistic to anyone who disagrees with them, they've killed it. Long live Pres Cafe...?

I was Ne1l C on TVF and regularly butted heads with many users. At one point I was actually afraid to post for fear of arousing someone's rage. I even left the forum at one point because I was enraged . I only came back when Asa announced he was closing it down and I took the chance to lambast some users for their attitude towards me.

I was Humphrey Hacker on TVLF and PC and I was rightfully banned from PC for setting up a second account because I had forgot the login for the first one so I cocked up on that one.

But the aggro I got on TVF was horrible.

Today the mods are complaining about the 'pile on' of posts of the same tweet from a presenter who's been fired. Thing is that if it wasn't moderated in that way everyone could see that it had already been posted, and not post the same thing! You can't have a discussion when there's a 12 hour delay in posts

Their other point is about posts that are just a single link and little discussion. I can see what they're getting at, but when something happens it's often not possible to write an essay to contextualise it. It's a policy that's inconsistently enforced too, fine on some threads
The admin is an arse. That's all there is to it. They'll have no one left soon. Their loss.

Btw wonder what cando did to get banned? Did the admin finally realise they were actually Tim Davie?
Why are you so weird. I don't even live in the UK but I can see weirdo misogyny a mile off

Misogyny? I always assumed (incorrectly, it sounds like) that you were a man. Idk where you're going with this but I can assure you there is no sexism intended on my part, and sorry if that's how my posts came across. And I'm not being weird. You're the weird one, with your constant kneejerk defenses of everything the BBC does. Like it feels like they could incite a genocide and you'd be there making excuses for them. And I don't know what not living in the UK has to do with anything. The BBC has offices all over the world as well you know. Why did you get banned, anyway? BTW Happy Christmas

Jesus Christ you lot, it's Christmas.

Have a mulled wine and relax for goodness sake. Life's too short...

The BBC News thread: where a harmless entertainment story on the website is enough to encourage a rant about how BBC News has lost all credibility

To be fair, hyperbole aside, you'd have to be the most ardent BBC bootlicker not to believe the BBC News website has gone substantially downhill. I think it is perfectly fair to point out that 'soft' news and human interest fluff has significantly increased in prominence, including sub-'and finally' stories like that one.

And that's before getting onto that god-awful InDepth crap that the BBC absolutely should not be doing.

I don't disagree with the argument. The argument itself is sound, but the hyperbole is the issue that I have. The BBC News Thread is constantly full of it, on both sides.
