Which channels did something for New Year this evening?
Bid had a countdown to New Year with Peter Simon, auction assistant Helen (from Blackpool) and about 15 crew members. They had 4 party poppers and at least one bottle of champaign which seemed to mostly go all over the studio floor. This was broadcast on Bid, Price Drop and Speed Auction. It looked like a lot of fun.
Ideal World had a couple of presenters and 6 or 7 crew members doing the conga.
QVC had a Zumba party but this may have been recorded and didn't look very interesting.
What did SuperCasino/Live Roulette do? What about Smart Live Casino? What did Psychic Today do? What about Babestation and SportXXXGirls? The Islam Channel? Any caps?

I'm starting to think David is winding us up, or he's some close relation to tumbly. Whatever the reason is, the joke is getting a bit stale now just like the only way is essex.

In that case maybe we should use a picture of Martin Freeman's face after TOWIE won a BAFTA when responding to any of David's more bizarre posts... (20 or so seconds in)

Ohhhh, now it's the case? What about when I said it was the case?! Find a good image, I don't think the Martin Freeman one quite cuts it. I don't think it can only apply when he says something particularly absurd, most of his garden variety posts come directly from there.
David, of course, wrote:May I be the first TV Forum member to wish all the horses a very happy birthday for today.
What's wrong with that? All racehorses, regardless of their actual DOF (date of foalage), are considered to be a year older on Jan 1. Considering it came in a post about C4 racing, it seemed an apt, humerous coda to me.

To some of us, his deliberate and convoluted posting style of late, in contrast to some of his earlier posts, is obviously a wind up. Baa, Phil and others seem to have missed the point. To me at least, it's a subtle statement on the affairs of TVF, where inane, stupid, downright disturbing and idiotic posts and posters are tolerated by the admin and mods, and where those of us who wish to engage in intelligent, speculative and interesting conversation about our particular niche interest are disillusioned by the plethora of pondlife infesting the place.
To illustrate David's normality before now, here are one or two random posts I've gleaned from his posting history:
South East Today broadcast from Canterbury Cathedral this evening. Why is there always sound problems on their OBs and why does it always seem to be Beverly Thompson's microphone that has the problems?
What are news programmes doing about this? Am I right to think that most news programmes would show the goals from an off-air recording? Is there another way for them to get pictures?
Doesn't seem to be registered by the BBC.

So, he hasn't ALWAYS been like this. His join date is also 2004. For someone like Baa, join date 2011, to criticise, is frankly a bit rich. Unless Baa is a previously banned member, in which case, you would do well to tread more lightly.

If you don't know a great deal about horses, it does sound a little crazy. Doesn't lessen the crazy even if horses do have a collective Jan 1st birthday but there you go...

Ignorance is never an excuse for anything.
Meanwhile, the usual suspects are going apoplectic in the Olympic thread regarding the brutal and savage treatment of the BBC logo. Quite justifiably, as it seems spotty-faced teenagers know much more about good brand usage than the BBC's publicity and marketing department.
Also, I'm concerned about this :

Hm, a veiled "they all look alike" statement? Not so much veiled because he does say they do but I mean, the other type.
Now that sounds to me like Baa is accusing Chie of racial stereotyping. I know Chie isn't anyone's favourite over here, but really? It seems Baa's inability to read between the lines when David's posting has suddenly come to life.

You could just say I'm dense, I won't take offence because I'd miss it anyway.

I think you've misunderstood us Michael. We understand that David is trying to have a joke with his recent posts, and we're saying that the joke is now pretty tired and not really funny. It's irritating users like me who are trying to, as you say, have intelligent conversation. If he's trying to make fun of the people who are irritating, maybe he should actually post his opinions on moderating instead of trying to joke about them.

I object to being called a "spotty-faced teenagers". And even if I was still in my teenage years, it's a very broad stereotype to call all teenagers "spotty-faced". That's just a natural part of growing up anyway. I don't think you would have liked being called that.
And also, you seem to be saying that the BBC employees know all and nothing about branding. Actually, they don't. They know how to make it look good, but not how to make it consistent, how to make it look like it's actually coming from a public service broadcaster paid for by the license holder. That's why the brand has gotten so out of place. That's why, as Martin Lambie-Nairn has stated before, there needs to be a brand consultant high up in the BBC.

Doesn't work. The moderating team don't listen to us.

You do know I'm the resident grammar nazi, do you?

Sometimes, you can't make something look good AND consistent. You need a little leeway - a little inspiration, a little imagination. I'm not losing sleep over the BBC Olympic logo being pink, and tbh neither should ML-N, and certainly not you. Similarly, I don't get hung up on the gradients in the TOTP titles (if you know another way of incorporating a blocky 1930s-esque logo into a cool, hip, teenage-orientated show without it looking out of place, please enlighten us). Plus, I doubt the BBC could justify spending OUR money on a full-time "brand consultant". People put too much emphasis on corporate "branding". I think it's a load of hot air personally.
Channel 4 is also a public service broadcaster. Do you have similar qualms about their relative lack of consistency in presenting their logo?
You're making one hell of a lot of fuss about nothing. On BOTH counts.
