As you obviously don't know what snow looks like, I've put some pics up here. Sorry for the dark early ones, they're from 6am this morning whilst heading to work.

South Wales : Light flurries all day, nothing sticking much, the real stuff has been coming down for about 2 hours now, paths, roads and gardens under at least an inch.

Tyne and Wear: Bikini weather. Several Geordies spotted putting black and white towels out next to Angel of the North. Hardly any service disruptions, we're doing fine.

Cornwall,

Now getting 'serious' local mainroad (busiest, non trunk, in the County) has broken up following the collapse of a very large tree under the weight of Snow. Roots have broken through the tarmac. Will take a while to fix according to reports.

In my recollection this is probably in the top ten of my lifetime's falls. If as is forecast the current fall continues through the night, it could well get to number two in the list.

If it dares to break the 15 inches we had in the 1980's then I'll be astonished.

This is the first significant fall in the non moorland, west of the county since November 2006.

So, the snow stopped around 12am last night so now there is ice and it's just cars skidding about outside my house for the morning.

So much for global warming - we should be able to grow bananas in February by now shouldn't we?

Climate change doesn't neccesarily mean heating, can also mean cooling and we could be in for a much colder period.
