That's the kind of thing Stevek would say.

Anyway, while we're on the car adverts, the one I hate more than any other at the moment is this wanky load of rubbish: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6uxSjuDF1A - every time it comes on I feel instantly depressed by that music. The whole advert is so slow and miserable.
that is a fantastic piece of music, very emotional- does anyone know if it was an original piece?
No it isn't, It is a bad rearrangement of 'Singing In The Rain'!

If it is a "re-arrangement" it is only in the sense that all music is a re-arrangement of the same limited number of notes.

I'm afraid it isn't. I have the whole score of that particular musical and there's no part of it which could be considered similar to this.

Call me crazy but if you compare the famous 'Singin' In The Rain' song itself to the Ford advert you can clearly hear the similarities. Do-Do Do-Do etc.

Only 5 posts, but you're definitely the forum's new source of wrongness and misinformation! :)

I listened again. I see what you're referring to, but other than a structure of notes its not the same, and the counterpoint to it is entirely different.

By no means as a crazy a suggestion as I initially thought, but as Roy Walker would say, "its good but its not right".

I too must voice my dislike of the Ford-car-as-musical-instruments adverts, both this one and the one before.

What a vile thing to say! But I wouldn't expect anything less from you.
