The Co-op have decided to go with the rather strange subbrand "loved by us". I think it's rubbish. The comments on the article seem to agree.

That "Bathroom Tissue" offends me. I think they ought to put it behind a black plastic barrier so I can't see it.

And here's a BBC News video on it (well I assume it's the same store). I feel sorry for the poor woman who has to stand with a "here to help" lollipop, looking like an idiot.

I take it that is the very first store? Saying that I can't see many stores up north changing to this brand new format......I know of few Tesco which were given SO called refurb, it was like there spent £1.

My local extra and many others in the areas already have a cafe with cheap food, at the entrance to the store, again I doubt many will be happy with the up market breakfast costing more £4.50.

Edinburgh Tesco near PC world has a Costa in it, so Costa will be throw out and replaced by a In house Coffee chain? Bar....I cant see that getting past the Licencing broad up north, the regulations are bad enough in supermarkets.

I have see a few changes, Free tasters have popped up over the store, I just cant see any of this

That one at Corstorphine is horrific. It takes soullessness to a whole other level. And the souls that do work there go out of their way to ignore you, and if forced to interact, are just plain rude. Will take more than some plywood edging on the shelves to sort that one into a "destination experience".

Scotmid Pilrig, my local, is having a facelift this week. It looks strangely much larger inside, but I swear I can't see any structural work done except for the extension of the checkout wall, complete with hot food servery (which could be nice). I think the gondolas are lower in height so I can see all the way to the back wall.

I'll be too embarrassed to snap pictures inside, so I might have to search for press release bumph after it opens.

Scotmid Pilrig will be the next store to undergo a makeover as the store moves to the award winning premium fresh format. Customers can expect an in store craft bakery, artisan breads from Breadwinner Bakery, more chilled and craft beers, an extended range of fresh fruit and veg as well as a more extensive wine selection. The store will re-open at 12pm on Friday 16th august. The first 50 lucky customers will receive a free goody bag.

I'd like that goody bag but I'm working.

I knew they had Marina-style stores in the UK! Sweet find. Funnily enough I was at Harvester today and noticed this:

The two fonts used are the exact ones Safeway used up to their demise, and it even has highlights stylised with a rectangle, 2 right hand corners and 2 rounded - exactly like old Safeway signage.

How utterly bizarre. What are those two fonts btw? And by "what are" I of course mean "put them on the uploader please"

The script font is called "Chatter" and was a bespoke font that Safeway had commissioned. Like many corporate fonts it got leaked and shared around, and designers started using it on other projects. I also saw it in a freebie magazine somewhere recently.

The other font, while it looks extremely similar to the Stone Sans that Safeway used, is actually Legacy Sans.

Nevertheless, a great spot there Will. The designer has definitely copied the Safeway house style!
