For the record, I said Pixie Lott's inane smiling while telling contestants whether they were in or out is the sort of face I'd like to see when someone's telling me I've got cancer. Dark, yes - but this is a forum where most can either leave out that humour if they don't appreciate it, or just flaming well ignore it.
Actually, James, you said AIDS; but nonetheless cancer really isn't a laughing matter either.

I certainly didn't RTP you - but I did sit there blinking with an open mouth for a minute.

Dark, even black humour it wasn't.

'ginofish''s excuse for 'Granire' is that his computer autocorrects the spelling of 'Grainne'. For gods sake, just turn auto-correct off, or even better, your keyboard.

His excuses are repetitive, his apologies hollow. I suspect he's quite used to getting all the attention he desires elsewhere, from very forgiving people.

Ironically, the internet on this occasion is where he's more accurately engaging in real life.

When someone walks into a room of people who like to discuss things and talks shit - chiming in at every possible opportunity, then sooner of later someone will say, "you really talk a lot of shit".

He is a real person with real feelings - and so are we. He disregards the feelings of those who are frustrated and made cross by his flooding of every topic, so I don't feel the need to spare his emotions in return.

Its not as if he hasn't had months of comments and nudges from the collective to take on board - he's actually getting worse.

Stick a fork in me - I'm done.

Oh Christ - back to the self enforced silence in the other place then, it seems.

I'm not sure I understand.

If you feel the need to say it, then why would you let my reaction get in the way?

I'll be honest here - why is everyone so reactionary? I think it's a symptom of a greater evil in society - and fair enough if it wasn't exactly tasteful in your eyes, apologies for that - but it raises other questions to me about the forum - for example: Why have a swear filter, when there are other, more pressing, matters on the forum to deal with? Surely seeing one of ginofish's posts is comparable in offensiveness to seeing the word 'cunt' a thousand times?

I'm a genuinely lovely guy, so I've been told - so if I feel the need to swear in one of my posts, surely we're all grown up now to see it? Surely by coming on TV Forum you are of an age where swearing becomes acceptable.

Well let me ask you this: if you yourself weren't at least a little reactionary, then why did you change it from AIDS to cancer?

Did you second guess yourself and think, "that's maybe a bit much", did you consider someone personally who might look in and feel hurt; or did you conclude that cancer - alluded to as a "dreadful thing" - was not as offensive?

I don't really think its a matter of censorship. It just could be considered cruel to refer to AIDS and cancer in a cavalier way to make a point about a popstrel judge on the X Factor. You're talking to a wide audience on TV Forum, so you simply don't know who might find that heartless.

You can either take some inner reflection on that point or wave it off.

Its entirely your choice, sir.

Because I forgot. Simple as that. Since the original post text had been deleted, and I really got less sleep last night than I intended to, it slipped my mind. Since both have affected me in some way (although, admittedly, not on a first-person level) the way we've usually dealt with it within my family and my circle of friends is to laugh it off - with either subject matter.

If you - or anyone else - found it offensive then I regret that, and I do apologise in that case; however in context it's only something I've written on an internet forum - and Heaven knows we tend to give things on here far more profondity than they tend to deserve.

Laughing it off is something people do to cope with something very frightening, surely?

Well, I've known some of you here for longer than work colleagues, and even some friends.

I understand the old "anonymity on the net" thing - but that doesn't apply when so many of us know each other.

apparently I'm still a member of TV Forum, though I don't post anymore at all. Wouldn't arse me one sodding bit if I got banned so is there any particular thread in which someone would like me to tell ginofish to fuck off out of your lives and stop ruining everything he even vaguely looks at?
Ronnie is victorious, vivacious in victory like a venomous dog. Vile Republicans cease living while the religious retort with rueful rhetoric. These rank thugs resort to violence and swear revenge.

But Ronnie can punch through steel so they lose anyway.

Had you said this two days ago, I'd have directed you to the 'ginofish' thread in the Newsroom, where 'Field', some newbie, invited us to moan about 'ginofish'.
