*crosses fingers it'll cure the intermittant virgin media timeout that only seems to affect me and a few others*

And yet another scrap breaks out (this time over imaginary vomiter danslink) in the Daybreak thread, again with no input from the mods.

I can't stand the place at the moment to be honest.
I know it's the kid's holidays, but this year it seems much worse, and most will probably still be there when school starts again!

"Lifeless"? What are we? Stiffs on a piece of elastic?
Shame, I quite liked House.

Do you think I bother reading threads like that? I only notice them when they're RTP'ed which I see you soemtimes do, but if something is warrenting attention RTP it or post it here, I'll notice it more!

I hope you're not suggesting that you avoid the threads likely to be tiresome. Next you'll be telling us you don't audit the rota threads.

Its certainly true that comments in here tend to be responded to faster - as we're polite n' such, *ahem*.
Maybe TVF needs some well meaning obsessive who can dole out summary justice, much like a drumhead trail.
On an unrelated note, how is Katherine Birkett these days?

Well, that's it - after seven long years, I'm giving up on TV Forum.
There's just no damn point any more.

Well, there hasn't been a major rebrand for a while. The only thing coming up is Sky Sports News and Daybreak.
I have to say though, I can't believe it's already been four years this October since the current BBC1 idents launched. When it was four years since the dancers had launched in 2006, it felt much longer than that. Hopefully this means BBC One will bring out a new look soon.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the term "moderator", but is it not your job (and i may add, not just your job, but one or two other people as well) to keep an eye on proceedings? Even a casual visitor like me only takes 10 minutes to scan through the four or five active threads when I log on of an evening and notice that the usual group of plebs and inebriates have taken over proceedings.
What you must realise is that while TVF attracts the losers, the obsessives and the lonely of society, it also attracts the cream of presentation and programming experts, as evidenced by, amongst others, the excellent graphic designers and broadcasting veterans which attend the board. We want less of the former and more of the latter. We want enthusiasts to converse in a sensible (not necessarily adult) constructive manner. What we don't want is those whom would enrich the discussion on the board being turned away and dissuaded by the likes of IPDean, Lightoftruth, and also a few of those who have been there longer than the school holidays.
I think you failed miserably when a Daybreak thread was started when the current GMTV one would have done fine until Daybreak launched. In fact, it's the Daybreak thread that seems to have caused a lot of the issues.
I won't pretend I know the job of a moderator or what it entails. Nor will I even admit to being the best behaved member of either TVF or Metropol. I bluster, I make assumptions and I offend. I also have a very active interest in television presentation. However I know the rules, I know the expectations of my peers, and I know vaguely where and when to open my mouth. Some on the forum need to be reminded of the expectations of TVF's alumni, and when their words are unnecessary, stupid or derogatory. And it needs to be a more active sort of intervention, rather than waiting for someone to RTP.
You get the shiny purple name, so earn it.
