Pay extra for something as basic as USB?

I'd read that it didn't have drag and drop, everything you want to move onto it from a computer needs to be synced via iTunes

Is a preview window as good as having tabs?

How does YouTube work on an iPad?
Not having bought into iTunes and its closed format, that's not really the way I like to operate. I copy data to my mobile device in an ad hoc'y way - not constantly syncing everything. I don't particularly want everything all at once.
I'm the same, I've never gone for automatic syncing. I prefer just to add what I want onto my mp3 player and then delete it from there once I've done with it
Mobile net and apps would be fun, and the screen and interface is delicious. No question. But paying for everything through iTunes? Pfft.
The screen and interface might be good but how practically are you meant to use it? It's totally flat and doesn't prop up at an angle by itself. I can't see how that will be comfortable to use to type, and what about watching films on it? One review I read of the iPad says it wobbles when it's flat on a surface so typing is tricky!

I think it depends how you view the relationship between it, your computer and other devices. I can't see a situation where i'd rather be transferring from a camera to an iWhatever when I have a computer with more space that can be a central repository for all my pron, er, photos and everything else. So in my paradigm, at least, it doesn't seem that outrageous to pay for an additional and less preferable way of doing things. Obviously it'd be nicer to have it for FREE but that's never been their way. They always give you what what 90% want/need but draw the line there.

This appears to be a flop, before it is even released. I am thinking the Microsoft Courier will be a nicer device than the iPad. Apple are just trying to see how far they can push the envelope with the iPad, it won't sell and hopefully it will make them realise they are overcharging, money grabbing gits.

Just picking up on the Courier point, it's unfortunate that there were some very arousing product vision vids getting spat out, because they will be several orders of magnitude more sexy than whatever final UX MS comes up with - the one thing Apple doesn't really struggle with (although the iBooks bookshelf and such is a little bit cringey).

I'm surprised the nook hasn't got more attention tbh. That's a rather nice kindle alternative with a bit more jazz to it.

So it's a separate 'app' you have to buy rather than just a case of going to the youtube site?

It's a separate app, but it comes pre-loaded on the device.

Is there a Google app that allows you to search your device for the app you are looking for?

Yes, on the iPhone 3GS there is anyway. Drag right on the home screen to open finder. It isn't Google but it does find apps, files and emails.
