Spotted a Google car with all the gubbins on the roof driving westbound along Edinburgh's Queen Street on Tuesday. Makes me wonder how many updates they'll do. I notice the current images of this street are taken driving eastbound so not sure if they're going for 100% completeness or what? In all honesty, I thought Edinburgh was already pretty comprehensively covered.
Also noticed something a bit funny here:
Street View link
It's my former University, with the Union showing a banner on the front. Then take one click to your left, and the banner disappears and up pops E4's Udderbelly tent at the Festival Fringe... I'm confused.

Oh that's good they've not finished in Edinburgh. There's still quite a bit to be covered (well, my house at least...)

I've noticed on a few streets that certain photos have clearly been taken on different days, despite being right next to each other. Not exactly sure why.

Maybe there was a problem with the original photo, such as sun glare, or lack of focus etc.. so they returned to do a re-shoot on a different day.

I believe you can request a pictures to be removed if you are identifiable even with facial blurring - as such, they must either have a stock of pictures from any one position, or they send the car out again to get the missing picture.

Indeed, I found some boring picture to try removing, worked like a charm. Since I was able to arbitrarily remove an image (supposing I had chosen one of actual interest rather than a boring stretch of A-road) I think they should make the process, if not more secure, at least a lot more time consuming involving writing letters.

If I hadn't been on street view, I never would have known that you can get into someone's house via the door.

Exactly. Like having a photo of a street is any more intrusive than having your name and address listed in the phone book with your phone number.
I think the most useful thing about Street View is that you can familiarise yourself with a place before you go there. Say you say to someone "I'll meet you by the Starbucks on Goodge Street in London" - well with Street View you can find out exactly how far from the Tube that Starbucks is, if you're not familiar with Goodge Street.

Well turns out I was after the Cafe Nero on Tottenham Court Road.
