Our local Asda recently became one of these fancy Walmart Superstore things... all they did was shift half of the products upstairs and start selling home decor. I only dare venture there after The Trafford Centre has shut. It's always heaving until TTC closes. I only go in for the bakery and the DVD selection. I find Tescos better for what I need, but the nearest half-decent Tesco is miles away, but that's for a Tesco thread.

Is Asda Trafford Park the only Asda with a McDonalds in it?
If we go to The Trafford Centre we tend to pop into that Asda aftewards, mainly for the DVDs mind. Have you been to Krispy Kreme opposite? Nice but what a rip-off!

I know that Asda in Widnes (which isn't very big) has a Maccies inside it.

Theres a good Tesco down the road in Irlam, but it's some drive away.

For me its Morrisons, due to the fact its about 5 minutes from home! I don't mind Asda otherwise, I find it better for non-food.

If either of you ever see me in there with the other half, please don't tell me who you are - I prefer to live with the idea of Metropolers as pixels on the screen ;)

Except for Mr Scott and Mr Hyma, of course!

Tesco Irlam was exactly the Tesco I was talking about! It's huge inside there, but I got caught out by the new escalators... they've changed the direction of them so that the down escalator is now the up escalator, and vice-versa.

The Krispy Kreme next to Asda is a rip-off, and it took me an age to find the entrance to it. I prefer the Costco in between... I cannot resist the temptation of buying several hundred Freddo bars. Am I right in thinking the Krispy Kreme is a drive-thru? I only took a quick look inside - I don't particularly like the American style doughnuts.

Moving off the topic of Asda (yet again), I went into Tesco in Stretford for the first time in ages today. I only went in to catch up with someone who works there, but I was quite surprised to see that they've now caught up with the 21st Century and have the self-service checkouts.

I'm desperately trying to think of some way of bringing this back onto Asda, but I can't.

Whilst we're off-topic... has anyone actually been in Barton Square at The Trafford Centre yet? Apparantly, it's quite nice in there, but I can never be arsed walking over the bridge to look at it myself.

The KK is a drive-thru, but I don't recommend it, I had to wait ages. I think alot of Tesco's stock KK's Doughnuts now, so it saves the bother of going all that way.

I've not been myself yet, it's only Home stuff isn't it? Doesn't really float my boat considering I don't have to buy stuff for the house, but it looks good from what I've seen, on the adverts. ;) I do believe it has a Seperate Car Park so it saves parking on the Trafford and having to walk over that bridge, which AIUI is very long!

I don't go to Trafford that often, it's more of an evening place. Believe it or not but Warrington Town Centre (including Golden Square) has got better within the last 18 months, so I go there mostly.

Anyway back to Asda...

...back to costco.

Do you need to pay a subscription to said place? There's a one next to ikea in edinburgh and its so interesting and tempting looking but I ca't see the point of paying £25 a yr if I don't really buy anything.

Find a friend with a colour laser printer, bop 10 or so sheets out with a letterhead hastily thrown up in Powerpoint or Word and you too can be swanning your merry way around big boxes in Costco looking for 100 Freddos.

oh i have a colour laser printer, its fab, although the yellow is now running out after a year and they want £60 for a new toner :(

Having said that it was the shop demo model, sans box, that I bought for all of £110 and the toner lights went on "low" the day after i bought it so that isn't *too* bad.

Refill the cartridge, no point faffing too much and usually a toner refill isn't like a ink refill and result in shit printouts from therein.

Laser printer? Come off it. You could provide them with a potato print saying you are a "dog woker" and they'd issue you a trade card.

Its a fucking disgrace if you ask me. They pay lesser business rates and put smaller shops (their actual customers) out of business.

No - don't buy from costco. Apart from the fact that their prices and fare aren't as good as you think - I don't think companies who flout trading regulations to the detriment of smaller high street independents should be supported.
