And where is the only bar in the country you can still smoke? The bar in the house of commons. Its a fucking joke innit.
The anti smoking brigade get on my tits, i hate being dictated to by a do as i say, not as i do society.
Tobacco and alcohol are two of the few taxes that the goverment collects revenue on daily. If all smokers were to give up,( or, from what i've witnessed so far, more people are smoking less now.) ot won't be long before the goverments realises there is less brass in the coffers. So the tax is bound go up on otherthings.
Also as a smoker, i resent being told i shouldn't be treated for smoking related diseases on the NHS. When a large chunk of my habit funds the NHS.
I'm angry tonight.

Ummm.... no. This is a piece of misinformation that seems to have been VERY widely spread to the point where everyone believes it. Yes, the ban doesn't legally apply to the Palace of Westminster, but it's being enforced there anyway. So, no, you cannot smoke in the commons bar. TYes, the pro-smoking brigade would like to have you fuming at the thought of MPs smoking in the comfort of their bar while you have to stand outside in the pouring rain, but it's total bullshit.

I don't know if that's true or another rumour.
Even if it is, why should PoW have an exemption anyway?

Technically it's exempted because it's a 'palace', but it's still illegal in there. I think there's something going through Parliament trying to abolish the exemption.

Scotland's palaces are not exempt from our smoking ban.
Such an exemption will only result in people looking the other way when someone lights up - something we proles don't have the benefit of.

I'd have to disagree. Most non/anti-smokers just want to be able to enjoy places without the smell of cigarette smoke and the associated health risks and are happy enough for smokers to continue to smoke in places not covered by the ban.

But there isn't anywhere for smokers when socialising, to enjoy a smoke except for outside. I was a bit pissed off last night and shouldn't judge all non smokers as hardcore anti smoking brigade. See since the ban, i've found that most of my non smoking pals would rather join me outside for a bit of passive smoking rather than being left alone in the bar. Thats now, when the weather is good, come the winter their habits may change.
