I wonder when/if MS are going to start updating Internet Explorer for Mac OS any more - it must have been years now, it's still based on IE5 (however, ironically, it works better than IE6 for Windows).
Windows Media player is also still on V9 (though it's Brushed Metal) and MSN for Mac OS is quite basic compared to Windows - still without Audio/Video or User Images, they should be updated...
Does anyone know what the browser usage statistics for Mac OSX are? I doubt IE has a huge percentage...

It's not based on IE5 at all, it just share a name.
"Tasman" which, at the time of release, was the most standards compliant rendering engine in existance, is at the heart of IE Mac and was built from the ground up for that purpose. It shares pretty much nothing with the Trident engine in IE for Windows.
Tasman is to be updated for MSN Internet Access's some time in the future I believe.
Now on a note related to SP2 and security, Microsoft have released a beta of their new anti-spyware program based on the Giant software which they bought last year. It's called *drumroll* "Microsoft Anti-Spyware 1.0"
Now aparently they are about to release a virus scanning program to the beta folk too this week although how complex it'll be is not really known as Norton could kick up a real fuss if they did what in theory would be sensible and plonked it onto Windows through Auto Updates.
But if we had a scanning program like this from MS, would it stop all the morons who've had their PCs turned into botnet drones or would it make no difference?

While Microsoft plans to continue development of the Tasman rendering engine for the Mac version of MSN, the
free front end, IE5.x for Macintosh, has been permanently discontinued. The last versions of Internet Explorer
for the Mac, are 5.2.3 for Mac OS X, and 5.1.7 for "Classic" Mac OS. These are still available for download.
