It's the old Benton Hypermarket (and still gets called that) - I think it might have been co-op at one point.

omg this is amazing, I forgot about the giant H entrance.

Was this a carrefore before it became a co-op? I remember Berwick had a co-op hypermarket but it was nowhere near as lavish as the one at Benton.

Obvious ADR is obvious.

She's hardly Major Benest, is she?

To my ears, there's obvious additional dialogue recording (i.e overdub done later in a studio) which, to me anyway, sticks out a mile, especially when she's enthusing about the freezer section (0:38) and the 20,000 value priced grocery items (0:47)

Major Benest was the wonderfully strait-laced but twinkly matter-of-fact face and voice of Benest's of Millbrook (and Fineprice, St Clement's Coast Road) on Jersey during the 1980s and 1990s.

oh my... this is magnificent. and yes very much overdubbed isn't she? Very plummy for someone from Benton too...

I remember I used to love the Hypermarket, and the smaller vastly inferior one at Berwick, due to the fact they had the tiny kids trolleys like IKEA :)

Our branch of Safeway used to have them in the early 90s, I used to love them too. Sadly they took them away after a few years because people kept stealing them.

Apparently the Benest's of Millbrook is, like all Jersey's Sandpiper Food Halls, to become a Morrison's Daily, but keeping the Benest's name.

Some interested and repeated mentions of Morrisons having taken over Safeway last year!

Disapointed the one in Nottingham that still had the old 80s/90s logo closed recently and decamped into a branch of Sainsbury's, and the sign's been taken down.
