Like what you were plotting in the metropol chat room about a member of this board and tv forum. There's more planning and scheming and general ill-will involved in Cyberbullying.

Well you used Metropols chat facility for a long time - Jon and David did certainly. It was turned off because it had an impact on the main site - the speed, bandwidth, whatever. We expected you to find another one, and you did one better and opened your own.

Where would the logic be in having resentment about that?

I wasn't overly keen in the signatures you adopted because those spoof topic titles did appear on the face of it to be taking the piss out of the eclectic discussions held here.

In any event, if you have a chip on your shoulder about what the "higher ups" think about ChatPS, I can tell you I really didn't give it much thought.

There was a handful of people who used the Metrochat facility between May and November last year, correct.

The facility was withdrawn the day after the official chat on the day of the American election, also correct. The reason given was that it was a drain on resources - I shalln't dwell on the veracity of these claims but suffice to say I was careful to monitor my server stats at the beginning and I noticed nothing worrying, and Metropol continued to fall over regularly following the deletion of the chat room.

The timing of the chat room's removal lead me to think that it was removed not for any technical reason, but because it had bred a new subculture with its own personality distinct from Metropol. This personality actually drowned out the old 'yay'/'tsk' stuff on that last official chat - and I suspect this was what caused the removal.

I am not surprised that it did not occur that we might form our own chat room; I think the intention was to position us as a clique - which is a bullshit accusation as things stand because anybody [who knows the present day name of BBC Choice] can join. We don't have a secret forum or any such nonsense, it's all there for anybody (except Paul Akinbola).

I think the continued presence (growth even), of a TV Forum subculture beside Metropol has annoyed those behind Metropol. Tell me I'm wrong if you like.

The signatures are intended to reflect discussion on ChatPS, not Metropol. We are quite keen on them as we wanted to draw people in and not become a clique.

I would hazard a guess that those behind Metropol don't really give a shit.
