tsk at this being discussed on TVF when we had it on here first.
Surely its a radio issue and therefore belongs over here. grr
I'm still to read the transcript, will it add anything to my understanding of the case which currently stands at "don't care" and "wish the mail would shut up about it" and "she looks like a slag anyhow" and "i don't really like either of them and couldn't care less if they were both fired"

For anyone who hasn't heard it (I think the iPlayer version is gone) it's on YouTube.

That's a shame. I actually quite liked his stream of consciousness because once in a while there would be something reasonably profound.

A big loss for the BBC. With all his US/movie commitments, I didn't think he'd hang on to his Radio 2 slot for much longer.
I can imagine he will continue to make radio shows/podcasts online.

I think you're wrong. The fact he hardly ever had time off shows he was still very committed to it.

When ever I listened it was either pre-recoded or 'highlights' it had a poor slot anyway.

It was quite often recorded at the end but most presenters could not be bothered to do that and simply had a stand in - highlights were very rare, it was mostly all new content.

To be honest I think Russ took a bullet for Rossy. I love how dignified and well throughout that video is.
As I said to my mother around 4pm yesterday if it was Russell Brand on his own he'd have got the sack no question, the fact he was with Jonathan Ross, a more important name to the BBC, means they can't really sack one without the other.
The point is, the only people who had a right to complain are those who heard the original broadcast, Mr Sachs and his family themselves.

Why should comments be restricted to only those hearing the original broadcast? Many more people have now heard it, not least the BBC Director-General who has made his opinion quite clear. I have a right to complain as a licence-payer, something I suspect you are not.
The actual point, wells, is that the phone calls were offensive and possibly a criminal offence. Many supporters of Brand & Ross claim that they should've expected any offensive material to be removed prior to broadcast. That doesn't absolve them of the fact that they made the calls. The fact that some of the conversation surrounding them was broadcast is secondary and a matter for the BBC and Ofcom to deal with.
Gross misconduct by bringing your employer into disrepute is a serious breach of any contract. An apology by the perpetrator is not normally the outcome in such circumstances. I very much doubt that the BBC could justify allowing Ross to continue broadcasting at all in view of the lead taken by his cohort in this affair.
At £16,000 a day I too would be clinging on as long as I could. However, if Ross believes he has even half the talent he claims to have, then surely he won't have a problem finding alternative employment.

1. I live in a household that pay the license fee.
2. No criminal charges where bought against the pair and Mr Sachs's right and only his right to bring such charges, only if the charges where then bought the none listening members of the British public would have a right to complain.
