I popped into O2 today to enquire about the iPhone. I can get the 8GB one free on an 18 month, 600 min, 500 txt, unlimied data contract of £40 per month. Or I can pay £99 and go for a £30 or £35 pm contract.
Sounds promising to me. July isn't long to wait.
(As a non-apple aside, Phones4U offered me an N95, 1500m unlimited txt and free evening and weekend data for £35 per month with a cashback rebate of £25. I just don't want an N95 though - its too bricklike for my pockets.)

Still unrelated to the iPhone but worth mentioning anyway.
At around 2:30am this morning after several futile attempts at fixing a borked FAT, my 80Gb iPod 5G (known as Mitzi) was pronounced FUBAR'd due to complications caused by a broken screen and a physically damaged hard drive. Mitzi will join other broken devices such as the G3 Pismo with the squiffy PSU and an old LCII which died of dust. She is survived by way of being replaced by either a 160Gb iPod classic or a refurb 80Gb iPod 5.5G dependant if I ever take a liking to silver over white.
RIP, truly a loss to television, film and music... oh and a bunch of games too.

I've registered my "interest" on the 02 page. I'm getting an iPhone, I've decided. I'll pay the £99 and go for a lesser tariff and bolt on the unlimited texts. That'll come out at £42.50 a month, which is a few quid less than I'm currently paying.
Quite excited, actually.
