I think it may be something to do with searching for software updates or something. My freeview box automatically searches for updates at 3am everyday too, but I switch everything off anyway, so it's only if I'm watching TV at that time in the morning that it bothers me.

I'm glad it's not just me! I have searched the in-built freeview element of the TV to see if there is a timer set for 3am, and there isn't. It doesn't turn the screen on, just the sound.

If I leave the Freeview tuner set to a channel that doesn't transmit at 3am I don't get woken up. But I have the habit of recording Emmerdale & Hollyoaks at 7pm (on Sky+) and watching "The One Show" at 7pm (on Freeview). So when I switch back to Sky later the TV is set at BBC One on DTT, so I get News 24 countdown and headline bed at 3am! Grrrrr!

That's why I now swtich TV off when I go to bed!

I like lights, mainly in my room and desk, so I've taken the small investment of to simply change to energy saving bulbs. Good for my carbon footprint, and saves money on electricity bills too.

I don't like the light they give off TBH.

I do agree Jovis, but I use energy saving bulbs in lamps where the actual bulb is hidden so giving off a more frosted-glassy ambient light, a bit like this.

I'm interested in this little thing

As my car is the greatest contributer to my carbon footprint I'm rather tempted to sign up for it.

I must say, lighting up that ridiculously shiny logo can't be very green.
