NHS or Private?

Tilly, I won't quote your whole post, but in principal:

Firstly, I realise that I have inadvertantly avoided apendicitis, which I may never have contracted of course, but that's not the point. i consented to an appendectomy (which they did), not a slicing open of my torso for no apparent reason. I don't believe anyone else consented either to that particular piece of surgical vandalism.

Secondly, I work at a Medical School now, so I will ask again about this "Dr/Mr" thing in the morning and post accordingly. My Boss (Claire) is very knowlegable so I'm sure she will be able to put this issue to rest.

Hello again :lol: I am back and recovering well after my operation. I'll get to my vanashing in just a moment but to the NHS its self.

I was worried going into hospital because of the superbugs which you can pick up inside, but thankfully everything was just fine. Got there at 8am sharpish, assigned a nurse to collect data and so on. An hour later Dr Rashed came round to speak to me, have a look at the area.

Because my OP was a "dirty" procedure i was last to go down to theatre. So i had to wait over 3hours! But that said it was relxaing watching the nurses go around their daily business. Staff shortages - what staff shortages! Most of the nurses were just mingling at the desk chatting about getting their highlights done.

That aside, the nurses were good, friendly and very helpful. I finally went down to theatre, it went fine but i woke up shaking, and took a little while coming round from the anesthetic. Once again the Nurses were really nice, checking every 30mins or so, offering water.

Now i havent experience Private Care, but NHS does seem the better option - very good Nurses who assisted with what i wanted.

(AOL is the reason why i vanished, sorry to break any dreams which some of you may have hoped to come true! :P )

Aye, but on the bright side, you might've been going to get appendicitis one day, and now you never will! ;-)
I might be wrong but hasn't it been found that the appendix helps the immune system in some way? Or maybe that's the tonsils.
