I do know that Office 2007 is very very good, seeing as I'm working with the beta at the moment, and until it runs out. It'll be even better when all the suites have the new UI on it.

Speaking of which, aren't many of the team who did the Office 2007 "ribbon" supposed to be working on the next version of Windows? It could prove even better than Vista...

Will "full" versions still allow you to upgrade from XP?

But that could be a big fat lie.
How is the upgrade validated? Is it like all previous versions, where you merely need to supply installation media from a qualifying previous version in order to install an upgrade version (thus enabling you to do virgin installs from an upgrade copy), or does it require you to upgrade from a running XP system which passes the genuine advantage check?

Upgrades need to be run from within a validated copy of Windows - though the install process has changed where an "upgrade" simply takes the files and settings you need and transfers them into a fresh Windows installation rather than installing over the top so technically either way you get a fresh installation.

Though according to Microsoft themselves - you can boot from the Windows DVD and not enter a product key. It will then install Windows but you'll then need to upgrade again on top so that it accepts the product key (You can't just enter it on your clean install...)

Make sure it doesn't connect to the internet and you'll be fine. My beta ended and I was told to buy it :l

mine did that. you can get the trial version (which is newer) and that'll do you for another two months until you can <del>limewire a new one down</del> purchase it from your local retailer.

By saving them onto an external HDD or networked resource, you moron.

I got mine on Friday - I have all my things on my external hard drive. I never bother putting them all on C:. Wastes time.

I was expecting compatibility problems.. one being my sound :( . I had to download a new driver from Creative.

you asked a question in Currys? You moron.

I also now save nothing on C: (or G: as vista is on)

Vista also makes using D: much easier than XP did what with Music and the other green folders just being virtual
