Mmm yes its running slow again, but it is the weekend and despite the glorious weather I suspect all the young 'uns are parked in front of their PCs.

Hmm. Things would seem to be happening over at TVF. You can't get to see the requests forum unless you log-in. Are more of the forums going to be heading this way, I wonder?
ASA - TV Forum wrote: It certainly would but would take away one reason why I set up the site in the first place. I always wanted it to be public without having to sign up a) so that people could see the discussion and b) to stop 'dead' accounts by people simply signing up for a quick peek.
As some who've received emails will know, along with a clear out of many inactive members, the Requests forum will be made private to stop people registering just for that and to stop the place turning into a theme tune request, zero-reply style forum.
The SQL scripts may have something to do with it too so I'll look at how efficient they're running as well to reduce the problems.

Dear *******,
You are receiving this email because your account has been removed from the TV
Home Forum.
There are several reasons why this may have occurred.
There has been a major purge of members, the first in over two years (and
deliberate this time). Most members who have not posted have been removed, as
have those who never verified their accounts. Additionally, any member who only
posted in the Requests forum and a number of individuals who have disrupted the
flow of threads. You may also have been removed as you have not logged into your
account this year.
There have been two other changes. Registration has been disabled so only
remaining members will be able to participate on the forums. It has not yet been
decided when it will open again or whether it'll be in the same form as
previously. In addition, the Requests forum becomes the first private forum.
This means the public cannot see the threads. The idea behind this is to stop
the forum turning in a zero-reply multi-theme-tune request forum, which wasn't
its intention. When registration reopens, there will be less people signing up
purely for this forum.
It is hoped the changes will stem the problem of troublemakers, those using the
site for something other than its intention and produce a decent community to
post or view.
Please remember that you are free to continue to view the public forums without
registration.
If you feel you have been incorrectly removed, or wish to provide feedback on
the changes, please contact Asa [email protected].
Regards, Asa
