I'm not a fan of it myself, but you have to admit that's a pretty impressive place in the market to have.
It fell off the top of the list last year so Irn-Bru have launched a new commercial blitz based on the tag-line, "It's phenomonal". Funny as hell.
Is it aired in England?
the Same... But Different?

I'll take a moment to brag and tell you that I was involved in the special effects used in those ads.Antz wrote:And Diet Irn Bru have the "OH YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH" tagline. They adverts are funny as well.
But don't ask me to say more.
That would just be tacky.
You weren't the person who fell off the diving board were you?Gavin Scott wrote:I'll take a moment to brag and tell you that I was involved in the special effects used in those ads.Antz wrote:And Diet Irn Bru have the "OH YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH" tagline. They adverts are funny as well.

No but I made sure his bits didn't show on camera when his swimming trunks tear off.Antz wrote:You weren't the person who fell off the diving board were you?Gavin Scott wrote:I'll take a moment to brag and tell you that I was involved in the special effects used in those ads.Antz wrote:And Diet Irn Bru have the "OH YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH" tagline. I used a complicated system of hands and lips.
All go here and admire my handiwork.

I don't really follow business news too closely, but Barr (makers of Irn-Bru) is currently a bit of a success story right now. This is pretty much the same as what you said Gavin, but the interesting thing is that as well as out selling all other soft drinks, Irn-Bru was the only brand to increase it's market share while all others (including the mighty Coke) slipped, blaming the 'poor summer'.Gavin Scott wrote:Here's a fact: in nearly every country in the world where Coke is sold (and that's virtually every country); one of the handful where it isn't the most popular soft drink sold is Scotland. I quite like it, but it's not on my shopping list very often. Prefer the caffine of Coke.
The ads are pretty funny, though I don't care for the new 'Oh yeah!' Diet Irn-Bru campaign. They're doing a competition on my local radio station and the prize is pretty damn impressive: penthouse apartment for a week, limousine and chauffeur on standby, PA to help plan your days and nights out, healthy gourmet meals cooked by a top chef, personal trainer, fashion consultant and £250 clothing allowance, makeover, VIP entry to top bars and clubs, and £200.
My favourite ad, though, is Jef in a Box by The Leith Agency
Forth One perhaps? They always seem to do good competitions but go on about Live and Loud too much. I wonder who is being followed in the Ten Grand Say's Its You comp. Anyone else won't know what i'm on about lol.scottishtv wrote:They're doing a competition on my local radio station and the prize is pretty damn impressive: penthouse apartment for a week, limousine and chauffeur on standby, PA to help plan your days and nights out, healthy gourmet meals cooked by a top chef, personal trainer, fashion consultant and £250 clothing allowance, makeover, VIP entry to top bars and clubs, and £200.

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure all SRH stations are doing pretty much the exact same competition right now (in the interest of fairness). They always do. Shame about their piss poor 'non branding' at the moment. Audio imaging on that station seems to have disappeared a long time ago.Antz wrote:Forth One perhaps? Sorry to veer off course slightly, but there's an absolutely terrible ad on there at the moment. An extremely poor rip off off Kylie's 'Can't get you out of my head'. It goes "You can't get our jingle out of your head. Home Improvement Company." or something daft. And it's half spoken-kinda-sung. Sheer terribleness. When I was a lad, a jingle was a jingle, and was sung by a 10 strong team... etc...
I like Forth One's jingles and beds. Very modern like. When they first released the sung '97.3 Forth One', I hated it but i've grown to like it! The Live and Loud jingle is quite good as well.scottishtv wrote:Yeah, but I'm pretty sure all SRH stations are doing pretty much the exact same competition right now (in the interest of fairness). Try and catch Bob Malcolm this week on Two. He's running a feature on the show I'm in.
